Hello everyone and welcome to my blog :-)
We continue through Aldeia da Sortelha.
We got a lot of heat during these holidays, which is good in itself, but walking through these alleys ends up making it more tiring. From Largo to reaching the castle it is always uphill and although it is not a very steep incline, it always costs a little more.

For this reason, we walk more slowly and have the opportunity to appreciate all the details that often pass us by.
A bird song caught our attention and the three of us looked up to understand where the sound was coming from. The mother on one side and a nest of swallows on the other. I love watching swallows and when they are in the nest without being able to fly yet, they are really sweet. Three little girls were watching and looking for their mother, waiting for food. The nest had been built under a roof above a window.

We arrived at Largo do Pelourinho and there he was.
Sortelha Castle, which displays a combination of Romanesque and Gothic styles with notable Manueline additions, is accessible through the Castle Gate, adorned with an armillary sphere and the royal arms of D. Manuel I. In the parade ground, the Cistern and a False Door to the south and the traditional Keep, with its dogwood balcony, are preserved.

In addition, there are two more False Doors in the wall, on the opposite side of the citadel, having been boarded up during the 17th century renovation and one close to the castle.
The view is stunning and we can see the entire village from the top of the walls.
Calm and silence prevail here, allowing us to absorb everything that nature offers us (sun, wind, birds chirping).
I still have a few more things to show you so stay tuned :-)

I hope you enjoyed.
See you around.
Wishing you much peace and health
