One of the regions with the longest river coast in Europe is the community of Extremadura, where the largest and deepest freshwater bodies, lakes and reservoirs on the continent are found. On this trip to the south of the autonomous community of Extremadura, to the province of Badajoz, the visit to some of these reservoirs, their landscapes and their locations are a natural journey of enormous beauty as well as being the natural resource par excellence of all our societies, water. I began this tour of reservoirs and reservoirs in the autonomous capital of Extremadura, the city of Mérida, to set off along the EX-105 road that would take me to the Alange reservoir and the town located on its shore of the same name. As I approached this gigantic and deep reservoir, I was very struck by the colour of its waters, an intense blue that stood out and reflected the colour of the sky on this day. It was one of the first impressions left by the visit to this reservoir, which was also accompanied by the large river beach prepared at the foot of the town of Alange.
Una de las regiones con más costa fluvial de Europa es la comunidad de Extremadura donde se encuentran las masas de agua dulce, lagos y pantanos más extensos y con mayor profundidad del continente. En este viaje al sur de la comunidad autónoma de Extremadura, a la provincia de Badajoz la visita a algunos de estos pantanos, sus paisajes y sus ubicaciones son un recorrido natural de enorme belleza además de ser el recurso natural por excelencia de todas nuestras sociedades, el agua. Este recorrido por embalses y pantanos lo comencé en la capital autonómica extremeña, la ciudad de Mérida pata partir por la carretera EX–105 que me llevaría al pantano de Alange y a la localidad situada a su orilla del mismo nombre. Cuando me iba acercando a este gigantesco y profundo pantano me llamo mucho la atención el color de sus aguas, un azul intenso que destacaba y reflejaba el color del cielo en este día. Fue una de las primeras impresiones que me dejo la visita a este embalse que también era acompañadas por la gran playa fluvial preparada a los pies de la población de Alange.
Alange reservoir
The large river beach of golden, fine sand covered a large area prepared for the enjoyment of the same. In this part of the reservoir you could enjoy palapas where you could protect yourself from the sun, shower areas and where you could change, terraces and places where you could have a coffee or eat, rental stalls for certain water sports, boats, canoes, sailboats and others. This reservoir is also visited by many lovers of fishing from a boat as it has fantastic places to practice it in its many hectares of surface. I dedicated myself to walking along the sand and observing all the movement that could be observed and although this time of year is not the most active, I did observe quite a bit of movement these days.
La gran playa fluvial de dorada y fina arena cubría una gran zona preparada para el disfrute de la misma. En esta parte del embalse se podía disfrutar de palapas donde protegerse del sol, zonas de duchas y donde poder cambiarse, terrazas y lugares donde tomar un café o comer, puestos de alquiler para determinados deportes náuticos, barcas, piraguas, veleros y otros. Este pantano también es visitado por muchos amantes de la pesca en embarcación ya que dispone de lugares fantásticos donde practicarla en sus muchas hectáreas de superficie. Me dedique a pasear por la arena y observar todo el movimiento que se podía observar y aunque esta época del año no es de las más activas si observe bastante movimiento en estos días.
Alange is located on the slopes of a large mountain that dominates the entire region and which, at its highest point, preserves a medieval castle that can be visited. When I arrived, I went to stay in a spa hotel in the area where I found beautiful walks and gardens and areas where I could enjoy the thermal waters that have been the great attraction of this town since ancient times, Roman times. This area has a great history and many civilizations that passed through the Iberian Peninsula enjoyed and used it in their settlements for centuries.
Alange está situado en la falda de una gran montaña que domina toda la región y que en su parte más elevada conserva un castillo medieval que es visitable. Cuando llegue me fui a alojar en un hotel balneario de la zona donde encontré unos hermosos paseos y jardines y zonas donde poder disfrutar de las aguas termales que desde tiempos remotos, épocas de los romanos, viene siendo el gran atractivo de esta población. Esta zona cuenta con una gran historia y muchas civilizaciones que pasaron por la península Ibérica disfrutaron y usaron en sus asentamientos por siglos.
Alange
Before going to relax and enjoy the natural pools, mud baths and spa of the resort, I went through the garden area that accompanies this tour of the area. A very well-kept area and prepared for this type of walks with large shade and gardens with different plant species that were introduced in the area and that give that special touch to this beautiful place. Walking through Alange, the beach area and the town have been a great adventure and I will surely repeat this experience.
Antes de irme a relajar y disfrutar de las piscinas naturales, de los baños de barro y del Spa del balneario me dirigí por la zona de jardines que acompañan en este recorrido por la zona. Una zona muy bien cuidada y preparada para este tipo de paseos con grandes sombras y jardines con distintas especies vegetales que fueron introducidas en la zona y que le dan ese toque tan especial a este hermoso lugar. Pasera por Alange, la zona de la playa y el pueblo han sido una gran aventura y seguramente vuelva a repetir esta experiencia.
