I saw some posts of fellow Hivians who attended this year's HiveFest with many "tourist posts" around the area where the event was held... Seeing that, I realized that I didn't do a lot of those at all as we had a busy schedule and hung out with Hivians every day... But, there was one day when I refused to go with others! 😱 Not that I didn't want, but...
It was the day when there was a Boat excursion... I had some bad experiences when I was on the sea (I really had a bad time), and looking at the weather forecast, I decided to stay on firm land and explore the area a bit... 🙂
So, when others were at the sea, I left the apartment (I think that those white blinders on the ground floor were from our accommodation), and went for a walk to the sea and back...
As you can see from the photos, the weather wasn't so good, and when I caught up with others that afternoon, I heard that they froze on the boat trip... Anyway, I checked Google Maps and found the closest path to the sea, which led through some interesting narrow streets and passages... This small playground/park was in front of my building...
As the road was going downhill, that was a good sign that I was going in the right direction...
Seeing a narrow water canal, was another confirmation... Follow the water to find "bigger" water... 😃
When I saw this house entrance, I couldn't decide what part of it I liked the most... The gate, the small passage behind the door, the stairs, the stones that the whole construction was made, or the cool terrace on the top!
Of course, when you are in Split, you will have to see at least a couple of these around the city... It is the logo of the local football (soccer) club Hajduk!
A few more curves and we are at the beach!
It was mid-September, and unfortunately around those days, the weather changed for the worse... It was a few degrees colder than 3-4 days before, and not a good day for swimming, or sunbathing (there was no sun)... I think that along with @ninaeatshere, we took a walk the next day, and it was much better with many people on the beach!
But, if you would like to take landscape photos or a wide range of photos, that was the best moment to do it! Look at those clouds and calm water... Btw, compared to Spain, the sea was very calm, mainly because the area is surrounded by many islands... And if you pay attention, you can notice that you can't see the horizon on the sea, but rather mountains... You have a feeling that you are at the lake, and not the sea...
Another thing that I found interesting, compared with Spain, is that we don't have these changing cabins at the beach, and very rarely you can find showers... There are small showers for washing your feet, but not the big ones... But, there is a reason behind that... I suppose that here in Split, when you shower on the beach, you are doing it with city water, and in Spain, there is a shortage of rain (and water), so when you wash your feet on the beach, you are doing it with salt water from the sea!
As the beach was empty, this small ice cream stand was closed!! Darn! 😥
As usual, I decided to take a circular walking route, and I bumped into this huge construction place by the sea, in the continuation of the beach... Have no idea what will be there, but it looks like they are preparing it for the next summer season and even more tourists...
While I was walking back to the city and my place, I saw a weird shop window, built into one house fence! It wasn't a shop, but an ordinary house... I suppose that it was the home of some famous sportsman, as there were a lot of medals and trophies...
Another curious thing caught my attention... From the distance, this looked like a "bit bigger" doghouse, but when I got closer, I realized that it was an entrance to the pet shop... 😃 How cool was that!
It was around lunchtime and I saw my next goal in the distance...
The launch is on the table! Instant chicken soup and lasagne... Not the healthiest thing to eat, but after a long walk, everything is tasty! 😃 Bon appetite...
In the beginning, I thought that creating this post would put the dot at the end of the HiveFest memories, but it gave me another nostalgia kick in the butt... When next HiveFest??? 😃
Thank you for your time,

Oooh HiveFest Nostalgia….yeahp.
Hahaha “el turisteo” of others xD everyone walking around historical places and us towards the highway in the direction of the karting track hahaha, such a difference.
I think that day you decided to stay on the mainland was necessary for you, spending 24/7 surrounded by people consumes a lot of energy hahaha it was an intense week.
Hahaha that reminded me of a song “I follow you, deep sea”.
The first photo of the beach is lovely, nice shadow pattern despite the bad weather haha. Hey I hadn't fallen for that feeling of being in a lake, but you're so right, there's not that infinity that joins the sky, I feel like you've discovered a new world for me hahaha.
🤣 😂 EPIC! 😅 Nobody does that kind of city exploration, for sure!!! Now that you mention it, I did the same in Hamburg, walking toward the airport on foot! 🤣 So, the next time, if you hang out with me, you know that you will have some weird walking routes... 🤣
Thanks for sharing! Listening to the song and writing a comment!
It's completely opposite to the Spanish coastline... If we have one small island in sight, that's a success... hehehe
Thanks for your company in Split! It was fun!
How close the clouds look to the mountains and the sea. You've chosen good times for landscape paintings. Your observations during the hike are spot on and well spotted. About the entrance of the house, I think the owner wanted to create a modern-looking entrance door in a historical building.
Hehehe... Yeah, that entrance is unique and what you described could be a reason for doing it like it is... Not sure if the owner succeeded in that, but it is unique, that's for sure! 😃
Thanks!
As usual lovely photograph especially the epics of calm sea. The idea of changing cabin by the sea is too good a idea. Hope every country applies this. The picture of your apartment and park shows how capturing the place is. Have a nice day.
I do understand the thing with water, but I don't know why there is no more changing cabins here in Spain, like they have in Split, for example...
I didn't see much outside the centre, but it was an interesting city to explore. I wonder where we will meet next time...
Hehehee... Yeah, the schedule was full and we were running from one place to another... But, it was a lot of fun!!!
Next time? Maybe Graz in May, or HiveFest at the yet, unknown location... :)
Looks like a great place to visit. I quite like the beach, it looks nice and calm sea. I can think you must have had a good time if you already waiting for the next one!
That was the only 1 free morning/half-afternoon that I spent on my own.... lol... The rest was always with at least 1 Hivian around... But, I like it! 😃
It’s a nice place that we missed, but we’ll try to catch it next time. The bad weather gave you a chance to walk around and explore, and I think you all had a very good time. Great post with lovely photos! :)
Thank your kind words! Yeah, the bad weather gave me a chance to explore the city, which is always interesting and challenging!
I think you not been lucky to have these blistering Sunny weathers that amplifies the beauty of photos. However, I still think they're great shots. One of the best aspect of a Blockchain event like HIVEFEST is the pictures, else you don't have enough of proof of memory.
Nice walk, the streets looks tidy, I just think the apartments are too cramped up with a lot of compartments.
As for the food, one of the reasons why we might not eat healthy all the time is the stress of actually cooking
That's true... Also, if I don't publish these photos, they will be lost somewhere on my hard drive and I will probably never see them again... When they are at HIVE, I'm sure I will check them out later! So much great memories from this year's Hive Fest!!
Exactly, pictures get lost, it's funny how we often think we have them secured on our devices, but they mostly aren't.
It sounds like a decent experience and it was probably better than being frozen on the ship. I guess the weather matters a lot and you have to take that into consideration.
Well, in my case, I was afraid that I would get seasick, which would destroy the whole point of hanging out with others... 😃 And the bad weather would make it even worse... So, I'm sorry that I wasn't there, but on the other side, it was a good decision for my health and the rest of the day... 😃
Split was a very beautiful place. I wish I'd had more time there.
When I booked my flights, I thought that I would have more time than in Amsterdam, or Hamburg, but it's never long enough... 😃
See you next year!
Wow, beautiful beach. Thanks for sharing 😊

I live in the opposite side of the sea, I can confirm you since 1-10 September of every year the summer season closes since it becomes cold and rainy... Many people here go to the sea in Croatia, nice sea there
Oh, so I suppose you are in Italy... It's interesting how the coast is completely different from the Croatian coastline...
Yea, Italy, we don't have rocks too and we are at the same height lol
Heheeh... It looks like others did a better job than me... More relaxed, as on vacation... lol... I thought that I had taken enough free days, but as many stayed longer, we continued meetups after the "official dates"... That was the reason why I didn't manage to explore the city more... :)
