The Rocca di Angera in the province of Varese

Hello friends, I am finally back with a new post, unfortunately I have been ill for the last few days, nothing serious a simple flu, which did not keep me going and therefore I could not bring any new content to this beautiful community.

This weekend, however, I had the opportunity to visit the Fortress of ngera, this was my first time in this place, and now I will tell you a little about the information I gathered on my rather quick visit.

First of all, we must say that it is located in a beautiful vantage point, in fact it towers above the mountain of the town of Angera, and from that vantage point you can practically see the whole of Lake Maggiore.

Especially if you are lucky enough to catch a nice sunny day, you will see a beautiful panorama and be able to take countless photos.

The castle was built around the year 1000, it was built in this area because of course strategically it was a perfect location, initially it belonged to the Visconti family, the lords of Milan, and then it was bought by the Borromeo family, one of the most important families in the Varese area.

I must say that the fortress is well maintained and inside there are many frescoes dating back to the 14th century, those that have survived intact to the present day, and outside there is a beautiful well-kept garden with many medicinal wild herbs.

I and my dad went on a tour together with a tourist agency from my home town, and when we visited the fortress there were many people from other agencies present, but you can also visit it individually, the price is 13 € per person, but I use this form of visit which is much more convenient because in addition to the entrance ticket I practically have the bus that takes me to the place.

Of course, the influence of the Borromeo family changed the castle practically into a palace, and today some of the furnishings of this palace can still be found inside the rooms. Unfortunately, you must always bear in mind that these places were plundered during the Napoleonic invasions and parts of the works of art ended up either in Milan or in France.

I have to say that the inside of the fortress impressed me so much with how well it is kept, then in one photo my dad came out too, who likes to be in the limelight from time to time.

It was a pity not to have visited the doll museum, which is also located in a part of the fortress, but due to time constraints as I was with this group I could not visit, it will be for next time.
