Visit Portugal - Monte Crasto.png

Last weekend, my family and I embarked on a delightful journey to Monte de Crasto in Gondomar. It was a scorching day, with the sun blazing overhead, prompting us to seek refuge in the cool, inviting embrace of the garden's lush greenery.

Accompanied by my loved ones, we strolled leisurely along the winding paths, basking in the tranquility of nature embrace. The air was filled with the sweet scent of blooming flowers, and the gentle rustle of leaves provided a soothing soundtrack to our excursion.

As we wandered through the verdant landscape, we stumbled upon the charming Chapel of Santo Isodoro, nestled atop Monte de Crasto. Though the chapel itself was closed to visitors, my son's eyes sparkled with delight at the sound of the distant church bell, echoing through the serene surroundings. It was a moment of pure joy, as we stood together, taking in the simple beauty of the moment.

But the highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the breathtaking vista that greeted us from the summit of Monte de Crasto. As we reached the pinnacle, a panoramic tableau unfolded before our eyes, revealing sweeping views of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia in the distance. The cityscape stretched out beneath us like a patchwork quilt, its rooftops glistening in the midday sun.

Despite the allure of the bustling city below, Monte de Crasto remained a haven of tranquility, its secluded location offering a welcome respite from the frenetic pace of urban life. We found ourselves drawn to a quaint esplanade nestled amidst the trees, where we settled in to enjoy a well-deserved rest. Sipping on refreshing beverages, we savored the moment, content in each other's company.

The strategic location of this sanctuary of peace allows us to enjoy the serenity of nature without ever straying too far from civilization. It's this perfect balance between accessibility and isolation that makes Monte de Crasto so special, inviting us to unwind and reconnect with the timeless beauty of the Portuguese countryside.
