Wat Khao Kaew (Old name Wat Na Muang Phet) 📷🛕
Today, I would like to take everyone to experience the unique beauty of Wat Khao Kaew together. This is an old temple located on a hill in Trang Province. This temple is in the village of Na Muang Phet.
This afternoon, my wife and I traveled to Wat Khao Kaew. Although traveling during this period is quite challenging because the road construction at the entrance to the temple is causing some traffic congestion, when I arrived at the temple, the inconvenience of driving was gone. I found a parking spot and then walked in to pay respect to the monk and asked for permission to take pictures of the temple.
I felt the peace and tranquility of Wat Khao Kaew. There is a clear division between the monks and the laity. I think that this place is very orderly and peaceful. I started walking to see the beauty of the temple and took pictures from different corners of the temple.
History of Wat Khao Kaew
Wat Khao Kaew is a temple for the people, belonging to the Mahanikaya sect, located in Na Muang Phet Subdistrict, Sikao District, Trang Province. Phra Khru Si Rattanaphiwut is the abbot.
This temple was built around 1937.
The original name of this temple was Wat Na Muang Phet.
Later, it was changed to Wat Khao Kaew after the name of the hill on which the temple is located.
The beauty of the church of Wat Khao Kaew
What you shouldn't miss is the church of Wat Khao Kaew with its beautiful architecture. This building is a modern Thai style building. The roof is beautifully layered.
The front of the stairs is decorated with stucco and 2 Nagas. In addition to the ruins, there are many other interesting buildings in the temple, such as the prayer hall, the bell, and each section of the monk's residence. All of these are meticulously designed and beautifully decorated.
Bells and large gongs. This is very impressive. The bells and gongs are prominently displayed in front of the church. The large bell of Wat Khao Kaew is similar to an ancient bell.
When walking inside, you will find stairs leading up to the top of the mountain. In that area, you will find a bell tower and a large Buddha statue in meditation posture, which is located between the stairs. This area is very shady. There are large trees, statues of hermits, and many monks' huts in this area as well. In addition, the area at the foot of the mountain, surrounded by beautiful nature, makes this area very suitable for meditation.
In front of the mountain, this area is the crematorium, which I had to take pictures from a distance because there was a funeral ceremony in that area, so I didn't want to walk around and disturb it while taking pictures. So I chose to take pictures from a distance.
I walked back to the front of the church again to take a picture of the Buddha statue in meditation posture, which is enshrined in front of the church.
I walked to the monks again to ask about the area inside the church. I would have asked permission to take another picture, but unfortunately, I could not go inside the church to take pictures because only the abbot can open the door. The monks and novices told me. Then I paid my respects to the monks in the temple and asked to leave. If you have a chance to visit Trang Province, please stop by. This temple has beautiful architecture and a way up the hill to the top. There is a Buddha statue on the hill. Come and see the beauty of this temple. As for today, I have to say goodbye.
