Ok this was my first time fishing offshore and it was indeed a great experience for me...***but I need to start the post by mentioning that I was so sick for most part of the fishing trip!***

I did not know that fishing offshore can be so difficult and we can get very sick in the middle of the ocean!

So if you don't have the experience fishing offshore, better not venture, that's the lesson I learnt from yesterday's trip!

Let's forget the sick part and check out the trip...

This trip was organized by my friend Karan and we were 7 people in all on this small wooden boat including the 'captain!'

We picked up the boat at Grand Baie - located in the north of Mauritius!

10 kms away from the north coast...

It took us around 1.5 hours to reach near the famous Island of Coin De Mire!

While sailing, my friend Karan started to prepare our fishing poles and lures!

Here we are in the boat taking the direction of Coin De Mire Island!

Deep Blue Sea...

If you are faint hearted...this type of trip is not recommended at all for you!

The first 10 minutes was great as the lagoon water was calm but once we were in dark blue waters...things started to change and we could feel the waves lifting the boat up and down!

This is what made me sick actually!

Approaching Coin De Mire!!!

After more than an hour of sailing, the island started to appear bigger and bigger!

The ecosystem around here is amazing...we saw many birds (some rare ones like the Paille En Queue) and a lot of different fishes!

Usually whales, sharks and dolphins can be seen in these waters...

We started to do casting here and the catch was good!

We caught some red snappers which is actually the best fish you can taste in Mauritius!

The only problem was the waves...

I vomited 3 times and I was completely tired...

While the others were fishing, I decided to sleep a bit to get better and effectively after an hour of sleep, I was much better and joined the team to fish!

We all enjoyed the trip despite that most of us got sick on the boat...

This is me...before getting sick!Lol!

Conclusion...not recommended to all!!!

My experience was not that great, but when you start getting fish, the feeling is different!

But I won't advise someone who has never ventured in high sea to try this fishing...stay away from this activity at all cost!

Normally in Mauritius, if you are an amateur, fishing trips like this will cost you around 1600 Mauritian Rupees (35Usd) per person and all fish that you get is for you!

It is definitely worth it as long as you are sure that you can handle big waves in shaking wooden boat!

First and last time doing this fishing...

For me, I have decided and it is sure...I am not going there again...ever!!!

I love fishing...but not this type!!! I will keep on fishing from beaches or pick up crabs and prawns in sandy lagoons, i will be more happy and it is safe!

If you can handle this type of fishing in the deep dark blue waters, then fishing around Coin De Mire Island must feature on your bucket list if you are visiting Mauritius soon!

Thanks for reading and wish you a wonderful day/evening ahead!

Ps. More fishing posts coming up soon and as usual I will give my personal views and recommendations!!!
