Campervan Trip To The City Of York ⚔️🏰

A few weeks ago I took my campervan to York for the weekend.

I had wanted to visit for a long time and 3 nights in the car parks of York was a lovely much much-needed trip away.

York City Walls
We took our wooden swords and battled on the walls pretending we were Danes and then Saxons!! 🤺

The walls were great to explore around and they even had Geocaches dotted around which we located along the way.

There are also 4 Bars along the city Walls. We would know these are Gates, the Vikings called them Bars. Severed heads were displayed on them to warn off approaching attackers.

Orginal Ghost Walk Of York
Highly recommend this if you visit this beautiful city. I have no pictures unfortunately but the guide was so charismatic and in character throughout. Kept you hooked on every word.

We were taken around some of the most Haunted parts of the city where numerous strange goings-on including on the oldest street in York called the Shambles.

Located at the end of the Shambles is the Golden Fleece Pub which is the most Haunted Pub in York!

York Minster
What a stunning display of Gothic architecture. The most unusual yet fascinating gargoyles surround the Minster along with notable people from History including our departed Queen Elizabeth II.

There are peregrine falcons which nest at the Monster too.

The gargoyle's faces are taken from benches inside the Minster Gardens.

Snickleways
A Snickleway is a term I believe was created in York and is used to describe the Alleys, and narrow streets which weave across the city.

Not only are they great to sword fight on, but they have some of the best shops hidden down them!

Final Thoughts on York
Great city to explore not too bit. Pre-book the Jovic Viking Museum we missed out.

Check out the food court of containers!

Downside all of the public toilets we visited were out of order which was a little bit frustrating.
