Squeaky Bay at Wilson’s Prom is an incredible and magical bay tucked away behind windswept scrub and overlooked by small mountains.
I have childhood memories of this place - many Victorians do, as the beach really does squeak underfoot, pure white and powdery.
Sadly on this day it refuses to squeak - it's been raining and trh wet sand doesn't oblige.
Still, the beach is spectacular and bordered by granite boulders worn smooth by time and tide. I must ask Mum to find the photos of me as a kid here. I see Ghost Dad chasing me between the rocks. I can feel the sand between my little toes. Mum is making a picnic.
The ocean is moody today but it's warm as it swishes over my feet. despite the tourists, its the kind of place that feels untouched and wild.
We spend some time examining squirty things and small mussels and limpets that cling to the rocks. Whole ecosystems clinging to life in the intertidal zone.
We spot an eleven legged starfish, endemic to the area and as far as WA, QLD and even NZ. How cool is Google Lens at identifying things?
If you go to the Prom, don't miss Squeaky Beach. There's a few beaches close by as well that you can walk to - Picnic Bay and Whiskey Bay, where you might even catch a wave too. The whole area, being a promontory, has many beaches to choose from.
I did want to walk to a few more beaches but my hips were killing me from the day before, so I just settled for the beauty of Squeaky Beach. More happy memories.
With Love,

I have not been to squeaky beach since I was a kid. I wonder if @consciouscat has been? It would be great to add it to our list.
I haven't been to Wilson's Prom! Though I've been hearing about how beautiful it is ever since I started collecting friends in Melbourne years ago.
I feel like I have been to a 'beach that squeaks' but I can't recall where...
I think we need to add it to the list @new.things!
Also, FAB close up shots @riverflows =) And I did a double take when you mentioned an 'eleven legged starfish'. I thought you were joking, until I saw your photo. It's beautiful!

I am amazed by all this beauty, I must introduce this place to everyone.
