I finally have my vacations after my semester exams and I just took a short trip from Bangalore to Coorg this weekend. My friend and I set out on the bike early morning by 5:30 am to catch the sunrise on our way. Sadly, it was very cloudy and the sun wasn’t very visible. But the weather was chilly and just perfect for the ride.
Coorg is about 300 kilometres (about 187 miles) away from Bangalore, which takes about 6 hours on the bike. I love bike rides (being the pillion I mean xD), and so this was something I was excited for.
We made a stop for breakfast at Hotel Kalyani located in Hebbal, Mysore. We feasted on some delicious Masala Dosa and Idli Vada for breakfast. These are proper South Indian breakfast items.
Masala Dosa is basically a crepe made from lentils and rice and is served with potato sabzi (curry), sambar (dip) and chutney. It was crispy and made the most ideal breakfast.
Idli Vada is yet another South Indian combination dish where idlis are rice cakes that are usually eaten with sambar and chutney. Vadas are deep fried doughnut-shaped snacks that are made from lentils and rice. Was too hungry and missed clicking a picture of the Idli Vada but added an image for reference. :)

We had a lot of time to kill as our hotel check-in was at 12 pm but we were just two hours away from the destination at 9 am. So, we were looking for things to do around the location we were in and we stumbled upon two places - the Lokaranjan Aqua World Underwater Zone and the Snow City. Both these places looked interesting and were in the vicinity of the hotel. We couldn’t decide which one to choose and so, we decided to do both. So, we headed to the Aquarium first, which was just a 5 minute walk away from the Snow City.
The entrance to the aquarium had a huge figurine of a fish and looked really interesting. We headed in to get our tickets. The aquarium entry charges are INR 199 (2.43 USD) per person for adults and INR 149 (1.82 USD) for kids.
They also offer a combo package which offers the entry to the Aquarium, Mirror Maze, and Snow City for INR 550 (6.72 USD) per person. This seemed like a good offer because the Snow City looked really fun. So, we decided to do it all.
There was a large variety of fishes, that were stunning to look at. Here’s a few shots I took:
The most stunning part of the aquarium was the underwater tunnel with a splendid view of fishes overhead. They had a shark, star fishes, eels, and many others.
It was a really nice start to the trip and the aquarium was totally worth the visit! A must try while in Mysore. We then visited the Mirror Maze and the Snow City, but that’s for the next blog! ;)
That’s all for this post. If you got till the end of the post, thank you for reading! Do drop a vote and a comment if you liked it. And of course, a reblog if you loved it. ✨
