Bergamo Cathedral

Hello everyone!

This year I had the opportunity to go to northern Italy for a week and visit several cities there. After this trip, I know that I would like to go back there to see more. The first city visited was Bergamo and its historical part - the Upper Town ("Città Alta").
This is the first post from this trip and since today is Sunday, I invite you to see photos from the beautiful cathedral.

Witam wszystkich!

W tym roku miałem okazję wyjechać na tydzień do północnych Włoch i zwiedzić tam kilka miast. Po tej wycieczce wiem, że chciałbym tam wrócić by zobaczyć więcej. Pierwszym z odwiedzonych miast było Bergamo i jego historyczna część - Górne Miasto ("Città Alta").
Jest to pierwszy post z tej wycieczki i ponieważ dziś jest niedziela, to zapraszam do obejrzenia zdjęć z pięknej katedry.

Bergamo Cathedral is located in Piazza del Duomo and since 1689 it has been dedicated to St. Alexander, the patron saint of the city.

Katedra w Bergamo znajduje się przy Piazza del Duomo i od 1689 poświęcona jest św. Aleksandrowi, który jest patronem miasta.

In the place of the present cathedral stood the church of St. Vincent.

W miejscu obecnej Katedry stał kościół pod wezwaniem św. Wincentego.

From the outside, of course, it does not make such an impression as the large Cathedrals in Prague or Milan.

Z zewnątrz oczywiście nie robi takiego wrażenia jak duże Katedry w Pradze czy Mediolanie.

However, once inside, you can see its true beauty.

Natomiast po wejściu do środka widać jej prawdziwe piękno.

On the sides we can see six different chapels. The Crucifix Chapel is visible here.

Po bokach możemy obejrzeć sześć różnych kaplic. Tutaj widoczna jest Kaplica Krucyfiksu.

The church has a single nave and was built on a Latin cross plan.

Kościół ten jest jednonawowy i został zbudowany na planie krzyża łacińskiego.

I looked around and up and was very impressed.

Rozglądałem się dookoła oraz w górę i byłem pod dużym wrażeniem.
