A Look at the Sea (Eng/Esp)

The sea has the extraordinary power to transmit me peace, therefore, I usually look for that captivating look to relax and delight myself with the beautiful play of colors that nature offers me in the composition of the sky and the landscape in the evening hours. Today I want you to accompany me on a tour that begins on Avenida Perimetral, near the Plaza Valentín Valiente, right where the Caigüire - El Peñón corridor begins.

El mar tiene el poder extraordinario de transmitirme paz, por ello, suelo buscar esa mirada cautivadora para relajarme y deleitarme con el hermoso juego de colores que me ofrece la naturaleza en la composición del cielo y el paisaje en horas vespertinas. Hoy quiero que me acompañen por un recorrido que inicia en la Avenida Perimetral, cerca de la Plaza Valentín Valiente, justo donde empieza el corredor Caigüire - El Peñón.

In this area you can see several boats on the shore, and is that the fishermen of this community set sail from this beach, for this reason from very early in the morning the inhabitants of the sector come to the square to buy fresh fish and other varieties such as pepitonas, squid, snails and other mollusks. Nearby are also located the famous Coctelitos, roofed spaces where these marine delicacies are prepared ready to eat.

En esta zona se pueden observar varios botes en la orilla, y es que los pescadores de esta comunidad zarpan desde esta playa, por tal razón desde muy temprano los habitantes del sector acuden a la la plaza para comprar pescado fresco y otras variedades como pepitonas, calamares, caracoles y otros moluscos. Cerca de acá también se ubican los famosos Coctelitos, espacios techados donde se preparan estas delicias marinas ya listas para comer.

From the beach you can elucidate the other coast, which would be Manicuare and Araya, the water is as blue as the sky of Cumana. The limits are barely visible and the landscape is captivating. The breeze, the warm sand, the smell of saltpeter and the human warmth are characteristics that enliven the experience and make it gratifying.

Desde la playa se puede dilucidar la otra costa, que sería Manicuare y Araya, el agua se nota tan azul como el cielo cumanés. Los límites apenas se vislubran y el paisaje es cautivador. La brisa, la arena cálida, el olor a salitre y el calor humano son características que avivan la experiencia y la vuelven gratificante.

When I made this tour it was just after one o'clock in the afternoon and at this time the beach had several men and young people resting after fishing, even lying in a hammock. There were also children enjoying the calmness of the sea. Another group of people were walking, I presume they were families dropping their children off at school since the sun at this hour is not suitable for walking or exercise.

Cuando realicé este recorrido era poco más de una una de la tarde y a esta hora la playa tenía a varios hombres y jóvenes descansando después de la faena pesquera, incluso, acostados en un chinchorro. También había niños disfrutando de la placidez del mar. Otro grupo de personas caminaba, presumo que eran familias dejando a sus hijos en las escuelas puesto que el sol a esta hora no es adecuado para pasear o hacer ejercicio.

As you can see in the photos, there were several boats anchored at sea and others on land, whose names are as autochthonous as the land where they were born. The creativity of the inhabitants is worthy of admiration when it comes to naming their boats.

Tal como pueden apreciar en las fotos, había varias embarcaciones ancladas en el mar y otras en tierra, cuyos nombres son tan autóctonas como la tierra que los vio nacer. La creatividad de los habitantes es digna de admirar a la hora de bautizar sus botes.

This tour reminded me of how magnificent nature is, the sea seems to have the ability to heal the hardships and take away the worries. Before its mystery and magnificence we can reflect on the vicissitudes of life, renew energy, and then return with optimism to everyday life.

Este recorrido me recordó lo magnífica que es la naturaleza, el mar parece tener esa capacidad de sanar las penurias y alejar las preocupaciones. Ante su misterio y magnificencia podemos reflexionar sobre los avatares de la vida, renovar la energía, para luego regresar con optimismo a la cotidianidad.
