Introduction

Have you been to Canlaon City in Negros Island? Love brought me to this place to nurture and cherish a relationship and was blessed with 5 beautiful kids. I now consider Canlaon City as my second home. I love this place because of its cool climate which is very much similar to my home in Mindanao. Canlaon is rich and abundant with its natural resources, making it a highly agricultural location for sugarcane, rice, vegetables and the like.

The place is conducive for Mountain Biking. I see various cyclists from neighboring towns, travel up here because of its hilly and zigzagged roads that made it more challenging to them.

Covering more than 3k above sea level, Canlaon is known for its famous volcano where many tourists and local mountain trekkers love to climb. The photo above is the campsite for stopovers where mountaineers are allowed to campout and rest for the night before they start trekking the following day before daybreak. It is a must for mountain trekkers to go up with a professional guide for safety and to keep them on the right track.

The volcano has 3 major outlets. We call it "Busay" meaning spring. When there's a heavy rain, the falls can be seen from afar that you can almost feel the pressure of the strong current.

The Lagoon

When these occurs, strong current is deposited at the Lagoon. At the same time, it is expected to happen to the free-flowing natural waterfalls.

Ice-cold Natural Spring Resorts

The place is loaded with varied tourist attractions such as our natural spring water resorts.

Inyawan Falls

This waterfalls runs freely from Mt. Canlaon. It is located in Barangay Masulog, Canlaon City. Unlike the sea waters, natural springs are cool and fresh to the feeling making you refreshed and energized. Inyawan Falls is free to the public.

Padudusan Falls

Padudusan is a vernacular term which means 'slide' because the water from Mt. Canlaon flows down the solid rocks forming like a huge canal hence they, mostly youngsters, enjoy sliding starting from the topmost with the strong current especially when it's rainy season. The slide is a natural product of nature caused by the strong current of water from the forest mountain. It automatically dries up when it's dry season. Others follow the path in going up so they won't get lost though there's an official route for new mountain trekkers as provided for by the Department of tourism of the city government.

Manggapa Natural Spring Waterfalls

This Busay is my favorite spot because of its huge stone boulders that are naturally alligned and compiled alongside the waterfalls. They are the natural beauty of nature worth visiting that you should not miss!

A water runs deep down the pool. This is where our swimmers practice everyday for regional competitions. It is said that fresh waters are hard to traverse that once you get used to it, salty water becomes so light to the feeling.

The stones seemed to be covered with sediments and trace of ashes or perhaps they came from the volcano after the eruption? Well, there were only two major volcanic eruptions as recorded and a lot more recently but am pretty sure it couldn't blow off a lot of big boulders such as those!

Aside from the ice-cold natural spring waters that we have, there rise a natural hot spring on the neighboring Barangay. I have gone there myself! You know, it's true that you can dress a chicken there or cook an egg but it was not touched by any developers. It smelt like sulfur and they suspected that it could be an extension of the volcano itself.

These are only some of the natural spring water resorts in Canlaon that are located on the lower part of Mt. Canlaon. There other resorts that are located on the upper side of the mountain as well as tourist spots that you should never fail to visit when you travel to Negros Island.
