Saying goodbye to Alto Caparaó and visiting Poço do Egito - Brazil

Continuing my journey through the Caparaó Park region, today I'm going to show you some scenes from the last two days of the trip. This wasn't the final destination of my trip, so I only had a few days to explore this place, but as it was all very intense, we also needed a day to rest and put the house in order.

I'm not a big fan of trips with mega-planned itineraries that don't include days to rest or do the trivial things in life. I think trips with frenetic itineraries make it impossible for us to simply experience the place and really feel it.

So, on one of those days, we took the opportunity to organize the trailer, rest and explore the area around where we were parked. Luckily, the whole area is so beautiful that even without moving anywhere we were still able to stay by the river and surrounded by nature.

Then it was time to set up camp and leave the town of Alto Caparaó in the direction of Poço do Egito, a famous attraction in the region, located on the Rio Claro. This point is in the municipality of Iúna, already in the Espiríto Santo area.

As it is on private property, the entrance to the river is paid for and we paid R$20 per person to visit the place. As it was a Sunday, there were quite a few people there.

It's worth noting that the entire journey from Alto Caparaó to Rio Claro is made up of unpaved roads and many steep hills. It may not be so easy for any vehicle, depending on the rainy conditions, but the views are spectacular. Full of mountains and bridges over rivers.

As well as being a beautiful place, Poço do Egito is also a farm that grows specialty coffees, which can be tasted and even bought. One of the best coffees I've ever had.

Another attraction of the place is undoubtedly the dogs who live there and who kept us company the whole time we stayed at the waterfall and parked up for the night. I already miss these two animals, who appeared all the time asking for affection or to play.

The Rio Claro is truly sensational, just as the locals had told us. Everyone recommended that we go and see the place, which is why we went to check it out.

The owner was kind enough to allow us to spend the night, so we were able to enjoy the waterfall for a night swim, but not alone. We had to share it with the insects, frogs and toads that inhabit the place at night. Quite an experience!
Luckily, the main pool of the waterfall is illuminated at night, so we were quite safe.
