Hello, my dearest friends!

Today, in this community, I want to introduce you to another village I had the opportunity to visit. It’s located quite close to Rapale and Pietraviva, two villages I talked about in my previous posts. If you haven’t checked those out yet, I invite you to read and discover them as well.

If you ever find yourself in the province of Arezzo, this is a great opportunity to combine multiple excursions to these places. I must say, you’ll go back home feeling very satisfied, as they’re truly beautiful spots to visit.
Today, I’ll be talking about Sogna, which is also a hamlet of the municipality of Bucine in the province of Arezzo, right in the heart of beautiful Tuscany.

This small village, this little hamlet, has medieval origins. As soon as you walk through its streets, you’ll notice the still-visible remains of its castle, built in the 13th century. Unfortunately, due to the fierce conflicts between Florence, Siena, and Arezzo, it was destroyed multiple times and never rebuilt.
Nowadays, you’ll find a village that has been restored and maintained in its original form, thanks to its transformation into a tourist and residential spot. Like other Tuscan villages, significant investments have been made here. Most of the houses you see in the photos have been converted into vacation accommodations, some of which are fully equipped apartments.

What I enjoyed most was visiting the ruins of this ancient castle. I couldn’t help but wonder who might have lived here and how many people might have perished in battle in this very place.

Continuing my walk, I didn’t see many tourists. Perhaps these apartments are only rented out during the summer. In my opinion, though, this place is worth visiting during other seasons as well.

For trekking enthusiasts, I discovered a trail of about 5 kilometers that connects Sogna to Rapale. It must be a truly beautiful hike. Who knows, maybe if I’m around here in spring, I’ll give it a try and document it for you.

In conclusion, I have to say that I liked this village less than others because it feels lifeless, being just a tourist accommodation spot. However, it’s still a way to enhance and preserve the village, so I’m not criticizing this decision.

I hope you’ve found my photos interesting. See you in my next story, in my next village! Have a great day, everyone!
