Hello fellow travellers from around the world

In this post, I want to tell you about a hamlet that I visited just a few days ago, so these photos are really fresh and looking back at them I almost felt like paintings, not because of my photographic skills, but because the hamlet is really beautiful and I understood why so visited.

Asolo is located about 30 km from Treviso, on the Pedemontana veneta therefore in a hilly position, I photographed grapes because in this area grape cultivation is widespread because a very good wine is produced.

It is said that the famous poet Giosuè Carducci called Asolo the city of a thousand horizons due to the fact that from Asolo you can enjoy an excellent view of the entire plain, although I have actually done some research and have never found this statement by the poet written anywhere. It is true, however, that Asolo has hosted many illustrious literary figures and many poets and writers over time.

What you must do if you come for a tour around here, and take a little walk along the streets of the village as I did, you will be fascinated by the beauty of the houses here in Asolo.
Even today it is still a very popular area, in fact I noticed a lot of newly built, very luxurious houses.

And I am told that it is very fashionable to come for an aperitif here, certainly one should not miss the opportunity to sip a good glass of wine produced locally here.

What is most striking is its beautiful square, with a large fountain in the centre, part of which is a beautiful church that has recently been restored.

During my walk I passed many cyclists, in fact when the famous Giro d'Italia is organised, one of the most important cycling events in Italy, there is usually always a stage that passes through here, because there are really beautiful cycling routes here.

Asolo is not even called the 'borgo delle tre donne' (borgo of the three women), and this cannot be a great source of pride for us women. This is due to the fact that three great women who have made history have lived in this borgo at different times: the writer and navigator Freya Stark, whose home is still here and can be visited at certain times, the actress Eleonora Duse, who at one time was the companion of Gabriele D'Annunzio, the famous Italian poet; her tomb, by the way, is in the Asolo cemetery, and in the past I reigned here a great queen, Caterina Cornaro, who partly transformed this village structurally.

Definitely one thing I will not miss the next time I have the chance to visit this village, to stop and do some wine-tasting in some of the local wine cellars, where an excellent prosecco wine is produced.
People around the world don't know much about this wine but it is actually very similar to champagne made and quite successful, I know all this because my cousin who is a sommelier tells me about it.

You just have to be a little careful about the weather, because in the foothills area as a village the weather changes very quickly and as you can see from the photos within a short time a thunderstorm arrived.

Walking along I found a bench where there was a metal sculpture of two people kissing, very pretty too bad that as usual there was nothing written on it and the author of this masterpiece was not known, I would have liked to know the author also because I also paint from time to time as you could see in the other post.

My post ends here, I hope you have enjoyed my narration on the borgo of asolo, and I hope above all that you have enjoyed the place. If you have the opportunity to come on holiday to Italy, I certainly invite you to visit this place, which is truly enchanting, and after visiting it I understood why so many culture lovers from all over the world used to come here.
