As many of you know I really like the National Gallery and go there whenever I go to DC. I also go to the Hirshorn Sculpture Gallery (it was under construction this time) and very often to the US Botanic Garden. Things that make me happy are great art and plants!

The US botanic garden is located close to the Capital on the east end of the mall. It was created in 1820 and is a greenhouse that has different habitats.
Garden Court.
This area has rotating and seasonal exhibits. I really enjoy the exhibits here and this time was awesome- Agaves!
Jungle
Next, is the jungle area, it is always very humid and has some really great plants!

Medicinal Plants
Maybe because it was February when I visited, this area was not very vibrant so I only got a couple of pictures. The plant is spearmint.

Orchid house
While this is a very small little space is is filled with beautiful orchids and a water feature that makes it one of my favorite places in the garden.

Desert
After living in Arizona for 16 years I feel right at home in the Desert area.

Hawaii
Now from the desert to Hawaii. This time I notice these cute trees. They are called cabbage on a stick.

From Hawaii we walk though a lush green primeval garden area.

Hope you enjoyed that tour. If you are in DC I highly recommend a stop at the US Botanic Garden. Like all museums all the mall it is free.

Well, we all love flowers and it gives us great pleasure to visit such a beautiful place. My own garden has many such beautiful flowers.
