This is my first post in this community and I'm excited to share some things with you.
My goal is to introduce you to my Cuba and its history through the lens of my camera. Today I want to take you on a trip through the land of pineapples, where I was born and spent most of my childhood.

Este es mi primer post en esta comunidad y me entusiasma compartir algunas cosas con ustedes.
Mi objetivo es presentarles mi Cuba y su historia a través del lente de mi cámara. Hoy quiero llevarlos de viaje por la tierra de las piñas, donde nací y pasé la mayor parte de mi infancia.
Bienvenidos a Ciego de Ávila, la Ciudad de los Portales.
So called because of the presence of portals and neoclastic columns that mark the image of this city. And where passers-by take shelter from the strong sun so typical of the tropical climate of our island.
Founded in 1840, it formerly belonged to the province of Camagüey, although it is currently the capital of the province of the same name. The Main Theater and the Catholic Cathedral are some of the notable sites of the city that have both architectural and historical importance.
Llamada así por la presencia de portales corridos y columnas neoclásicas que marcan la imagen de esta ciudad. Y en dónde los transeúntes se cobijan del sol tan fuerte típico del clima tropical de nuestra isla.
Fundada en 1840, antiguamente pertenecía a la provincia de Camagüey, aunque en la actualidad es la capital de la provincia homónima. El Teatro Principal y la Catedral Católica son algunos de los sitios notables de la ciudad que tienen importancia tanto arquitectónica como histórica.
Catedral San Eugenio de la Palma
Edificio religioso afiliado a la iglesia católica. Este proyecto estuvo a cargo del arquitecto Salvador Figueras y fue inaugurado en 1951 y en 1996 recibió el estatus de Catedral.
Teatro Principal
Eclectic style building, it was inaugurated on March 2, 1927.
Great Cuban and international artists such as Jorge Negrete, Eliseo Grenet, Ernesto Lecuona, Libertad Lamargue, among others, have performed on its stage.
This place, for me, is like my other home because throughout my career as a dancer, since I was a child, I have had the opportunity to dance in this beautiful theater and I hope, very soon, to have that opportunity again. If so, I would love to share it with you.
Edificio al estilo Ecléctico, fue inaugurado el 2 de marzo de 1927.
Por su escenario han desfilado grandes artistas de Cuba y el mundo como, Jorge Negrete, Eliseo Grenet, Ernesto Lecuona, Libertad Lamargue, entre otros.
Este lugar, para mi es como mi otra casa ya que durante toda mi carrera como bailarina, desde muy niña, he tenido la oportunidad de bailar en ese hermoso teatro y espero que dentro de poco tener esa oportunidad otra vez, de ser así, me encantará compartirlo con ustedes.
Parque Martí
José Martí Park is located in the center of the city. It was remodeled in 1995, but its origins date back to the 19th century. It was formerly called Plaza Alfonso III and right in the middle where the José Martí Statue stands today, there was a gazebo where the Municipal Symphony Orchestra used to play on Sundays.
El Parque José Martí, se ubica en el centro de la ciudad. Remodelado en 1995, pero sus orígenes se remontan al Siglo XIX. Antiguamemte se llamaba Plaza Alfonso III y justo en el medio donde se levanta hoy la Estatua José Martí, había una glorieta en donde la orquesta sinfónica Municipal tocaba los domingos.
Edificio 12 Plantas
Right in the center of the city, in front of Martí Park, stands a modern building that breaks with all colonial architecture. It is considered a planning error.

Phrases like these are typical in everyday life. Well, in my personal opinion, the people of Avila have turned it into the most important reference point of the city.
Justamente en el centro de la ciudad, frente al Parque Martí, se levanta un edificio moderno que rompe con toda la arquitectura colonial. Considerado como un error de planificación.
"Nos vemos bajo el 12 planta"
"Si, ahí mismo, en la esquina del 12 planta"
"Frente al 12 planta"
"Ves el 12 planta ?, pues la calle de al lado"
Frases como éstas, son típicas en el día a día. Pues, ha mi opinion personal, los avileños lo han convertido en el punto de referencia más importante de la ciudad.
