Hotel Review - Dragon Valley Hotel @ Yongpyong, South Korea

in Pinmapple3 years ago

Hi Everyone,

Going to South Korea for our ski trip was a popular choice amongst our friends especially have already done Niseko in Japan previously, going to Asia again was a no brainer so our friends in Hong Kong can fly over easily to join us. As there will be 7 of us flying over from Australia and Hong Kong, we need to make the most of our trip. First requirement is the accommodation needs to be close to the snowfields so we can wake up and go up the slopes. The other reason is by the end of the day from past experience, we will probably be dead tired and don’t want to travel home so somewhere close is what we all want. After doing some research, Dragon Valley Hotel was the choice for us which meet our criteria and available for our travel times.

We all booked the same flight flying from Sydney and those flying from Hong Kong will try to arrive around the same time as us so we can head to the snow fields together. Dragon Valley Hotel has two option of accomodation, one is a traditional western room with proper beds and the other is the Korean style with futon bedding. Myself, hubby and a friend wanted the Korean style so we booked a bigger room together and the rest all booked the western style room. When we arrived, checkin was smooth and easy with the front desk communicating well in English.

As we walked in, the room was empty. Floor was heated so it was nice and warm for the cold winter. There was a table for 4, a kitchenette to cook the simple meals if we wanted to, a large fridge for the drinks we get every day and a nice cupboard. As you can see, the futon for the 3 of us and there were still plenty of room to walk around. There was also a TV big enough for the room which we all appreciate as we all love Korean shows so after a long day on the snow, we would just watch Korean drama or variety show until late.

Our room was big enough for 4 people and is facing a carpark and a mountain. We never heard any noise from outside as the weather was so cold the door was always closed so facing the carpark wasn’t an issue for us. The bathroom wasn’t big but enough for the 3 of us. The shower had good water pressure and plenty of hot water which is much needed after a long day up on the slopes.

My friends shared their room photos with us. Pretty decent looking room with two beds and a nice lounge chair to rest up after an active day. Their bathroom looks a bit more dated, more like the ones you see in a Japanese budget or business hotel. Overall we had a good experience at the hotel as they have provided us all the basics for a good night sleep and the best part was the close proximity to the snowfields.
