Hi Everyone,

Oshino Village was a place I wanted to visit when we were in the Mt Fuji area. It has a perfect view of Mt. Fuji, charming countryside vibes, and some of the clearest water you’ve seen in Japan. In between Lake Kawaguchiko and Lake Yamanakako, this little spot feels like a step back in time, back to the olden Japan era.

At the centre of it all is Oshino Village, a set of eight natural spring ponds with melted snow from Mt. Fuji. The ponds were so clear you could see every pebble, fish, and water plant with great detail. Each pond has its own little story and characteristics like Sokonashi-ike, which is nicknamed the “Bottomless Pond” for its spooky depth and clarity of the water.

The whole village is set up for wandering around for visitors. Narrow walking paths between the ponds, old-fashioned houses, and rustic wooden bridges. Other than the view, the shopping and snacking stall around the village is a great way to try local food. The whole area around the ponds is filled with little stalls and shops. Shops would sell souvenirs, various hot food or processed and fresh produce.

Coming to the village around the year has a different setting. I was there in winter so leaves were bare from trees, snow on top of Mt Fuji and stalls selling hot food. The crystal clear water was sparkling under the sun on the day we visited.

Oshino Village can be visited from Tokyo as a day trip though will be a tiring one but well worth it. We were here for a few days so we took our time visiting all the different sites. I suggest you drive to the village to make the most of your time in the area and be able to drive to neighbouring sites.

I especially like these beautiful scenic spots in Japan. I think Japan is one of the most beautiful places in the world. Although I am speaking from Bangladesh. This small pond is very beautiful to see and I am very impressed by the natural environment and beautiful flowers here. However, in winter, the leaves of the trees seemed very empty. Thank you very much for sharing this beautiful trip and the unforgettable scenery. Above all, I wish you success in your trip.
