Let's discover Csernovics-Karolyi Castle and Botanical Garden in Macea commune, Arad county, Romania

Hello dear followers and visitors

IMG_20230430_151947.jpg

For some time I have been waiting for the warm season to come and to feel that summer has arrived, I have been waiting so long that I started to rejoice at the sight of the first strong rays of sunshine, and now the wait is over and here in Romania we already have the first signs that summer will come.

I don't know if you agree with me, but the rainy season and bad weather give me a state of boredom where I don't feel like doing anything, I don't tend to discover or explore new places.

But when I see the first sunny days with summer temperatures, it changes my mindset and, of course, my desire to hike or explore new places.

So today I want to introduce you to a treasure of Arad County that I have heard about for a long time, but neglected. Today we will explore together the Csernovics-Karolyi Castle and the Botanical Garden of Macea.

Macea is a border town located about 20 km from Arad and the castle and botanical garden are owned by the Vasile Goldis West University (the faculty whose courses I attended, it is a prestigious faculty here in western Romania).

To get here I had to use the gps, but even so, after a tour of the village, the gps took me to a part of the botanical garden where I found the message "No access" written on a door.

I panicked a bit, I thought it was closed or under renovation, but I walked a few steps to the shop across the road and asked if it was possible to visit the castle and the garden, both could be visited, only the entrance wasn't that way but on a different side of the garden, I'm a bit forgetful of my gps which had been giving me errors for a while about the destination, but I overlooked this.

The castle and botanical garden have free private parking on both sides, so don't worry about where to leave your car.

Right at the entrance to the botanical garden (main entrance), we also saw the ticket office where we stopped to pay the fee.

Castle and Botanical Garden access fee
-the fee was 6lei/1,2euro/person - an extremely low fee
-photography and filming were allowed and free of charge

Opening hours
-the castle and the botanical garden are open for visits from Monday to Friday from 8.00 am to 4.00 pm.
-on weekends between June-September between 9.00-19.00, and between March-May, October-November between 9.00-18.00.

It is worth noting that between December and February both are closed to visitors.

Ready, we are at the entrance to the botanical garden looking forward to see what we can see here, the visit starts on a paved path with a hedge on both sides.

We took just a few steps through the garden and already started to see peonies, bamboos, old oaks, many species of plants and trees and here we also saw the statue of PAVEL COVACI, this place also bears the name of the great scientist and founder of this place.

This place occupies an area of about 21 hectares, with over 2000 species of plants, trees, to our disappointment the castle can not be visited inside because the University works here, we could only admire it from the outside (so it does not look in very good condition).

Along the tour route you will find rest stops, here you can rest or look around and observe how life is going on here, another thing that really excited me was that they installed birdhouses in many trees.

For more details about this place you can find here, https://www.glsa.ro/istoria-locala-gradina-botanica-macea/ , it would be impossible for me in terms of names and time to explain tree species (over 2000 species) or plant or herb species (over 500).

The length of your visit here may depend on how interested you are in finding out the name, origin, age or any other information about absolutely everything you find in this amazing botanical garden or we can even call it a dendrological garden.

My dear friends, this is the end of a visit to an extraordinary botanical garden in Arad county, Romania, I leave here with an unpleasant feeling that I could not visit the castle from the inside, I think it would have been an extraordinary experience too, but maybe in the future the university will think about opening part of the castle for visitors.

If you liked what you saw and read here please don't forget to give a LiKe, Follow, reBlog or a Comment, for all this I thank you, and until the next post I say goodbye.

P.S. The attached pictures you have just seen are taken by me with my mobile phone and drone, and the text is also designed by me.

@triplug I'm not sure if it's because this place is less accessible due to a sign or if it's just the weather, but I see that the architecture of the castle seems to have withstood the test of time and still looks beautiful on the outside. The botanical garden looks amazing, like a family's own piece of land.

The castle is kept in very good conditions even today, and the garden is also well cared for, the whole place is under the administration of the Vasile Goldiș West Faculty, these people take care that this place is kept in the best conditions.

I really enjoyed your photos. Thank you for sharing😘

Glad you liked my pictures attached here😉

What a charming place. I love the vegetation that is there, but I can see that it is a bit behind Switzerland. We have a very cold spring, but apparently it started much earlier than in Romania. For example, we don't have magnolias since almost a month. But it's nice to see them back 🙂

Well, I would spend there all day. I would bring something to eat and enjoy it in nature 🙂

Thank you for sharing and happy spring trips!

Yes, I was also thinking of something similar to you, I was thinking of a picnic in the botanical garden among so many flowers, something dreamy, but unfortunately this is not possible here.

In the botanical garden you can spend a whole day for sure, there is so much to see, and you have many places to rest.

The warm weather has just arrived so we can get out in nature, but unfortunately in the last few days here in western Romania we have had a few earthquakes, this is not very pleasant.

Amazing photos and so many, that navigation will ruin a trip if we are not careful, thankfully you did not give up so easily.

Thank you very much for stopping by, I'm glad you liked the pictures attached in this post.

It's very nice to see all the flowers in your post. They are all very amazing.

Great Post, Thanks for sharing

Thank you very much for your comment, yes, being a botanical garden it has extremely many types of very beautiful flowers, I tried to select a few of them so that I don't have to attach a lot of pictures in the post.
Greetings from Romania!

Omg I like your beautiful photos🥰 we are in İstanbul and still wait the summer🤔

Wow, Istanbul, I've been thinking about visiting this gorgeous city on two continents for a while now, but have yet to find a flight at an acceptable price.
Yes, summer has come to us I can say that, but unfortunately for a few days we had a few earthquakes of 4.3 degrees on the richter scale, we were scared to death.
Greetings from Romania!

Get well soon🙏🏻 There was a very big earthquake in Turkey recently :( Everyone should visit Istanbul, it is a very beautiful city😊😊 I hope you can find cheap ticket.
