Us3inCanada Summer Vacation - Day 1 - White Rock

Hi Hive Friends!

Us3inCanada Summer Vacation - Day 1 - White Rock

We had such an amazing summer vacation this year. Our friends from Brazil came to visit us and after exploring Calgary, we went to Vancouver.

We haven’t been there yet, and sadly we were hearing about some issues with many people living on the streets and the rise of violence, we were actually kind of worried about going there.

Ended up we barely saw homeless people doing drugs, and we could enjoy this beautiful city!

We took a flight from Calgary to Abbotsford, a city near Vancouver, 45 minutes driving.

We decided to go to this airport since the car rentals are cheaper, smaller airports, so there is less time trying to go from one gate to another, and since we also added Kelowna to the road trip, it would be closer for flying back to YYC.

White Rock

From Abbotsford, we decided to take a stop at White Rock, a promenade at the Pacific Ocean, famous for its 470 metre long pier.

Built in 1914 when the railway began to operate, now it is more of a tourist attraction and a landmark of its view of the coastal mountains and the San Juan Islands.

After walking the pier and beach, we stopped at a restaurant with a view ocean and got ourselves some poutine, crabs, and sangria before heading to Vancouver

Arriving in Vancouver

First stop at the Kitsiliano Beach.

Busy beach, near the University. Lots of people hang out at the basketball courts, playing beach volleyball or soccer.

The kids could play some basketball and we stayed there until the beautiful sunset.

Vancouver is such an amazing city, and we really had a great time there.

We will certainly be back for more adventures, there are still lots of things to explore in the city.
