During our stay in Firenze, we will explore two medieval towns in Tuscany, San Giminiano and Siena. Both two very famous cities in the region.

Buckle up!

San Giminiano

On the second day in Firenze, we decided to rent a car to visit San Giminianni and Siena. The idea was to do those paid tours with lunch and wine tasting, but our desire to drive along Tuscan roads spoke louder.

We hit the road early and... well, not so early because the party with people from the hostel lasted until the morning... but despite being a little lost at first, we soon got used to the signs and traffic and GPS.

The scenery along the way was wonderful, with rolling hills, vineyards and picturesque medieval towns all around.

To be prepared for this trip, we went to a supermarket and bought several things to eat, water and grape juice.

We arrived in San Giminianni in the morning and went to explore this small medieval town walking through the squares and picturesque streets.

Indeed, it is a charming city with a lot of history and beautiful sights, great for taking lots of pictures.

What impressed me the most were the medieval buildings that surround the historic center, giving the city a special charm.

IMG-20230411-WA0002.jpgIMG-20230411-WA0016.jpgIMG-20230411-WA0012.jpg

A curiosity is that these towers were built by the rich families of the city in the Middle Ages, as a form of social status.

Another really cool place is Piazza della Cisterna, a well-preserved square with lots of shops and restaurants. In addition, the Cathedral of San Gimignano is also wonderful with its Gothic architecture.

IMG-20230411-WA0005.jpgIMG-20230411-WA0010.jpgIMG-20230411-WA0003.jpg

IMG-20230411-WA0008.jpg

IMG-20230411-WA0004.jpg

A perfect place to visit when exploring Tuscany and experiencing a small medieval village. And of course, all this with a lot of wines and local snacks with the tasting tours in the region.

I would stay there longer, but we still want to go to Siena, shall we?

IMG-20230411-WA0011.jpgIMG-20230411-WA0014.jpg

Siena

Arriving in the afternoon and we left the car in a parking lot close to Piazza del Campo.

Another city with beautiful architecture that I will try to describe through the photos. Siena's cathedral Duomo, squares, and pizza! what a pizza, one of the best we ate in italy was in Siena.

IMG-20230411-WA0047.jpgIMG-20230411-WA0043.jpg
IMG-20230411-WA0036.jpgIMG-20230411-WA0046.jpg

As we entered the city downtown a surprise, a Naked Woman checking out streets gossiping by the window... but was only a sculpture. lol

IMG-20230411-WA0028.jpgIMG-20230411-WA0029.jpgIMG-20230411-WA0037.jpg

After wandering through the streets of the city center, we accidentally found a great place to relax in the sunshine.

In front of the cathedral, several people were hanging around, and it would be a great place for a break.

When the sun goes down, it lights up the entire cathedral, making it reflect an incredible golden hue.

IMG-20230411-WA0034.jpg

We chose a restaurant for dinner in the square so we could watch people having fun there and everyone around contented, imagining that it must be big families. Can you imagine cleaning all the rooms? Haha

IMG-20230411-WA0023.jpgIMG-20230411-WA0024.jpgIMG-20230411-WA0025.jpg

Pizza - Wine - and awesome creme brulee for desert.

IMG-20230411-WA0042.jpgIMG-20230411-WA0027.jpgIMG-20230411-WA0049.jpg

Best pizzas we have so far in Italy, make me want to go back there to eat it again. Fresh ingredients perfect dough and very tasty.

Goodbye pizza from São Paulo. It's a lie, São Paulo's pizza is still the best... at least for me...

IMG-20230411-WA0039.jpgIMG-20230411-WA0031.jpg
IMG-20230411-WA0040.jpgIMG-20230411-WA0045.jpgIMG-20230411-WA0030.jpg

In addition to the squares, Catedral There is a lot to do in Siena and maybe I'll be back one day.

Another building that enchanted me was the Palazzo Pubblico. It has a museum that you can see a large collection of works of art, paintings and sculptures.

IMG-20230411-WA0038.jpgIMG-20230411-WA0021.jpg
IMG-20230411-WA0032.jpgIMG-20230411-WA0041.jpgIMG-20230411-WA0022.jpg

IMG-20230411-WA0044.jpg

Like all cities we've visited so far, many churches, I remember that we joked that in Italy there are more churches than people.

The streets are very clean and charming streets with several alleys that it was fun to enter without knowing where you would come out. And we found more stores and more restaurants. Bars and more squares. It was so worth it.

IMG-20230411-WA0048.jpgIMG-20230411-WA0026.jpgIMG-20230411-WA0035.jpg

It was an amazing day, driving around Tuscany, eating, walking and seeing medieval towns I always wanted to see. An experience I will definitely never forget. But if you forget, it will be registered on the Hive Blockchain. haha

It only gets better!!!

And there? Did you like it? A walk through time huh? I really enjoyed getting to know and I think that a day to get to know both cities was very well spent.

The return, through the already dark roads, without any surprises on the way. And do you already know what the theme of the next post will be? Prepared?

Hugs

Preparados?

Abraços
