Roadtrip to upper Savinja valley - Panoramic road Matkov kot -in sLOVEnia

Greetings dear fellow traveler,

It has already passed almost two weeks since I went on an amazing short holiday that was full of surprises, beautiful views, loughs and relaxation far away from technology and everyday routines.

Since then I have been busy with trying to do more than I'm paid for, investing in myself, dollar cost averaging, helping others, cutting grass, tree's while trying to improve my communication, giving and reactions.

If you ask me what is my first thought when I hear a work 'September'.. my answer will always be short and direct - mushrooms!

It is the time of the year when forest becomes alive, this year we had way too little rain and this month we received more rain than in the whole year before. We all waited for the rain and so did mushrooms.

Mushrooms are a superfood for everyone, full of minerals, vitamins and health benefits. They are delicious, super healthy, some even have medicinal uses and for me, they are a great as a gift for someone that means something to me. Spent quite some time up in the mountains hunting mushrooms, but ok, lets go back when I went to visit our beautiful Logarska valley.

Right before the road trip began, I was in a real need for disconnecting from every day life and connect with our mother nature.

Started my road trip a day early, packed everything in my Passat, even brought a sleeping equipment with me and slept in the car for one night. Started Sunday early, made myself some coffee and went on a very long walk I needed really badly. After over 3 hours of early morning walking and exploring our capital city Ljubljana by foot I stopped on top of a hill where castle is located.

Then I had about 40 minute walk back to my car, went to pick up a friend and continued the journey to one of my favorite places, upped Savinjska dolina (valley). Planned the route ahead and took unusual road to get there, that turned out to be even better, less damaged road with beautiful view's and made us stopped to check out an old mill with a short nice walk in the forest.

Again, I couldn't get out of 'my skin' everywhere I looked I saw mushrooms, some poisonous, others unknown and a few were also edible, but not really the ones I'm most interested in. I couldn't help it but something was telling me that there must be some boletus growing in there as well with all other species.

After nice easy walking threw the forest we turned back and started heading back to the car, when I stopped something, almost like that something was calling out for me.
Oh boy saw I right!

After over 3 months of not even seeing a mushroom because of the dry summer we finally catched some beauties. For me it's almost like catching on of those Pokemons, but without a phone! :)

We ate early dinner on a cool spot under a roof, warmed it up almost like we were camping and ended a day early to get some nice rest and energies for up coming day.

Woke up on a beautiful morning with fresh cup of coffee made right on the sunny balcony with my camping cooker, then we headed off to find a locating to make us breakfast with eggs and some mushrooms we found a day before. Then we headed with a car to explore Matkov kot on panoramic road and find real dragons!

Even received a brand new, also laser cut/made, hive card made out of wood, it makes it so much more suitable to add in photos out in the wild.

I always knew dragons are real, imagination is everything, like Hill said 'what ever mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve!'

Then the road lead me really near border with Austria, where the road got narrow, even more twisty and the view's got ever more amazing, no wonder it's called panoramic road.

I had to stop here, lay on my back and enjoy these amazing views of the Alps.

It is a great road to go with a bicycle as well that starts and ends in tiny village Solčava, but this holiday was really for relaxation, gathering energies, good food, exploring Slovenia and great company.

To finish an already fantastic road with these views, we sumbled upon natural mineral spring water. It said that has many health benefits and is rich full of iron, copper, nickel, various minerals. Tasted almost like blood, so we spiced it up with a glass of vine, that we call in Slovenia špricer. :)

Found two dragons in one day, the third one was found the next day. Will finish here as the road lead us to valley Logarska just a few minutes drive away where I spent the rest of holidays enjoying the stunning view's of the Alps and it's size.

This holiday really was full or surprises, amazing weather and stunning view's everywhere I looked.

I'm really grateful to be able to go on such road trips, that I can walk, see, that I'm healthy and able to enjoy life with little things, able to invest in myself, improve on mistakes and have full control of my mind.
