Hola amigos mochileros, excursionistas y turistas, como están? aquí nuevamente les comparto un sitio turístico de Colombia muy bonito, frio y colorido que vale la pena visitar si en el algún momento la ocasión es la indicada, a pesar del clima de lluvia la experiencia fue muy bonita y logramos caminar por todo Finlandia, incluso compramos algunos recuerdos de allí. El plan original era visitar "La Posada Alemana" que fue propiedad en la antigüedad de Carlos Lehder, miembro del cartel de Medellín en la época de los 70's-80's, esta posada se trataba de un lujoso hotel con cabañas al estilo Suizo, tenia discoteca y restaurante, actualmente es propiedad del departamento de Quindío, sin embargo solo queda la fachada pues luego de todos estos años han saqueado la estructura y solo es símbolo y recuerdo de quien miembro de dicho cartel.
La lluvia se aproximaba y nuestro destino estaba todavía a 30 min, por lo cual tuvimos que desviarnos hacia Finlandia esperando no mojarnos, así que mi viaje allí fue por casualidad, sin embargo mi hermano ya había venido y el fue quien me convenció.
Para llegar aquí tuvimos que cruzar dos departamentos, Risaralda y Quindío ya que es en este ultimo donde se encuentra, desde Santa Rosa de Cabal el camino es de 44 km, sin embargo para llegar toma aproximadamente 1h y 30min, dependiendo del trafico y las condiciones climáticas, además de eso que parte de la carretera es de subida.

Hi friends backpackers, hikers and tourists, how are you? here again I share with you a very nice, cold and colorful tourist site in Colombia that is worth visiting if at some point the occasion is right, despite the rainy weather the experience was very nice and we managed to walk around Finland, we even bought some souvenirs from there. The original plan was to visit "La Posada Alemana" which was owned in ancient times by Carlos Lehder, a member of the Medellin cartel in the 70's-80's, this inn was a luxurious hotel with Swiss style cabins, had a disco and restaurant, is now owned by the department of Quindio, however only the facade remains because after all these years they have looted the structure and is only a symbol and memory of the member of the cartel.
The rain was approaching and our destination was still 30 minutes away, so we had to detour to Finland hoping not to get wet, so my trip there was by chance, however my brother had already come and he was the one who convinced me.
To get here we had to cross two departments, Risaralda and Quindio as it is in the latter where it is located, from Santa Rosa de Cabal the road is 44 km, however to get there takes about 1h and 30min, depending on traffic and weather conditions, besides that part of the road is uphill.
Partimos a las 8am aproximadamente hacia este lugar, normalmente para disfrutar del viaje se debe salir un poco mas temprano, sin embargo mi hermano venia de Manizales que es mucho mas lejos y debía esperarlo.
Para mi el camino fue muy transitado, desde que salimos hasta llegar, y esto se debe a que son las vías principales que van incluso hasta Cali, por lo cual es muy normal ver tanto trafico, el clima estaba muy frio al salir y sin embargo entre mas subíamos a Quindío mas frio hacia, incluso hubo un tramo de carretera donde había neblina.
Al momento de entrar a la carretera que va a Finlandia me gusto mucho el camino ya que son granjas al rededor y además hay un tramo donde hay un especie de bosque y reserva, mi hermano me dice que una vez el logro ver monos aulladores cruzando la carretera.
We left at 8am approximately to this place, normally to enjoy the trip you should leave a little earlier, however my brother was coming from Manizales which is much further and I had to wait for him.
For me the road was very busy, since we left until we arrived, and this is because they are the main roads that go even to Cali, so it is very normal to see so much traffic, the weather was very cold when we left and yet the more we went up to Quindio the colder it got, there was even a stretch of road where there was fog.
When entering the road that goes to Finland I really liked the road because there are farms around and there is also a stretch where there is a kind of forest and reserve, my brother tells me that once he managed to see howler monkeys crossing the road.
Al momento de comenzar a entrar al pueblo ya se pueden ver las casas de estilo Colonial y esto se debe a que esta arquitectura se construyo así en la época de Colonización española (Eso me dijeron en una tienda de Finlandia, no se si me mentían), desde entonces las casas se han mantenido con el mismo estilo, el tipo de pintura de debe a que es una especie de homenaje a los antiguos pobladores los Quimbaya, quienes pintaban sus rostros de muchos colores con sangre de animales, carbón, cenizas etc. Según las casas son pintadas de muchos colores por este motivo, sinceramente no se que parte de la historia es real o no, pero si tiene un poco de sentido ya que estos pueblos guardan mucho sus tradiciones.
Las calles están muy limpias y muy ordenadas a diferencia de otras ciudades y pueblos, y básicamente es por que al ser pueblo muy turístico mantienen un aspecto muy agradable a simple vista, nosotros recorrimos todas las calles en moto buscando un lugar donde poder parquear.
When you begin to enter the town you can already see the Colonial style houses and this is because this architecture was built this way at the time of Spanish colonization (I was told in a store in Finland, I do not know if I was lying), since then the houses have remained with the same style, the type of painting is because it is a kind of tribute to the ancient settlers the Quimbaya, who painted their faces in many colors with animal blood, coal, ashes etc.. According to the houses are painted in many colors for this reason, I honestly do not know what part of the story is real or not, but it does make some sense because these people keep their traditions.
The streets are very clean and very tidy unlike other cities and towns, and basically it is because being a very touristy town they keep a very nice look at first sight, we went through all the streets by motorcycle looking for a place to park.
Ya estando en el pueblo fue momento de desayunar, tomar un café y conocer todo.
En el lugar hay demasiados restaurantes, el punto central de cada pueblo del eje cafetero y sus aledaños es la plaza central, allí es donde se reúne gran parte del comercio y donde llegan todos los turistas.
Por lo cual aquí podremos observar todo tipo de comida y diferentes restaurantes, incluso donde se parquean los autos y motos hay unos Jeep en miniatura que tienen la placa de Finlandia, son de verdad muy bonitos y creo que están hechos artesanalmente, esto llama la atención de todo el mundo que llega.
Además de eso Finlandia se caracteriza por ser muy visita por personas de Estados Unidos, literalmente en cualquier esquina veía alguien hablando ingles.
En la plaza también hay un cartel donde se ven las calles del pueblo y otro sobre la ruta cafetera, esto ya se los he mostrado en mis anteriores post.
Once in town it was time to have breakfast, have a coffee and get to know everything.
In the place there are too many restaurants, the central point of every town of the coffee axis and its surroundings is the central square, there is where much of the trade meets and where all the tourists arrive.
So here we can see all kinds of food and different restaurants, even where the cars and motorcycles are parked there are miniature Jeeps that have the license plate of Finland, they are really very nice and I think they are handmade, this attracts the attention of everyone who arrives.
Besides that Finland is characterized by being very visited by people from the United States, literally in any corner I saw someone speaking English.
In the square there is also a sign where you can see the streets of the town and another one about the coffee route, this I have already shown you in my previous posts.

Caminamos un poco por las calles y la verdad es que no vi ni una sola casa que no tuviera diferentes tonos de color, todo es muy bonito la verdad, se siente el calor de las personas que pasan y te dan los "buenos días", "bienvenido", algo muy espectacular.
Entramos a algunas tiendas de artesanía indígena y habían pulseras y collares de cuero muy bonitos, carteras, correas, todo tipo de artesanía hecha con estos materiales, pero no compramos nada la verdad, ya que íbamos directo al mirador que es el principal atractivo.
Allí en este mirador compramos helados y nos prestaron cargadores para poder seguir tomando fotos, estuvimos conversando con la chica unos 30 min y ella fue la que me conto un poco sobre la historia de Finlandia.
Básicamente el pueblo vive mas del turismo y el comercio, per o también hay quienes viven de la agricultura, sin embargo en la época navideña es cuando mas turistas van a este lugar.
We walked a bit through the streets and the truth is that I did not see a single house that did not have different shades of color, everything is very nice indeed, you feel the warmth of the people who pass by and give you the "good morning", "welcome", something very spectacular.
We went into some indigenous handicraft stores and there were very nice leather bracelets and necklaces, wallets, belts, all kinds of crafts made with these materials, but we did not really buy anything, since we were going straight to the viewpoint which is the main attraction.
There at this viewpoint we bought ice cream and they lent us chargers to continue taking pictures, we were talking with the girl for about 30 minutes and she was the one who told me a little about the history of Finland.
Basically the town lives more from tourism and commerce, but there are also those who live from agriculture, however at Christmas time is when more tourists go to this place.
Caminamos un poco mas por el pueblo hacia otro de los miradores, este si es pago, la entrada tiene un costo de 6000 pesos, equivalente 1.5$, y se puede estar todo el tiempo deseado, también hay restaurantes, pero por las condiciones del clima le dije a mi hermano que no, solo nos mantuvo en las tiendas de afuera, aquí si compramos algunos recuerdos, arequipe de nuez de macadamia y de maracuyá.
Otra cosa que me llamo mucho la atención fue el museo, que tampoco era muy costoso, pero ya teníamos que volver a la plaza para almorzar e irnos, por que sinceramente teníamos 2h en el pueblo y quería ir a la posada alemana.
We walked a little more through the town to another of the viewpoints, this one is paid, the entrance has a cost of 6000 pesos, equivalent to $ 1.5, and you can stay as long as you want, there are also restaurants, but because of the weather conditions I told my brother that no, just kept us in the stores outside, here if we bought some souvenirs, macadamia nut and passion fruit arequipe.
Another thing that caught my attention was the museum, which was not very expensive either, but we had to go back to the square for lunch and leave, because honestly we had 2 hours in town and I wanted to go to the German inn.
Desde aquí fuimos al restaurante y pedimos un almuerzo y yo unas canastas de pollo, en el tiempo que estuvimos esperando la policía se nos acerco y nos pidió documentación, no tengo idea de por que nos vieron algo extraño a nosotros, mi hermano mostros sus papeles de Colombia y yo mi pasaporte y no hubo inconveniente.
From here we went to the restaurant and ordered lunch and I ordered some chicken baskets, while we were waiting the police approached us and asked us for documentation, I have no idea why they saw something strange to us, my brother showed his Colombian papers and I showed my passport and there was no problem.
Fue momento de regresar y aunque ya la lluvia había pasado, nos volvió a encontrar unos kilómetros mas adelante, así que el viaje a la posada alemana se cancelo por completo 😥, ya desde aquí regresamos a casa por que teníamos que salir mas tarde a otras tareas.
Uno de mis mejores días fue aquí, y espero que la próxima si pueda ir al destino que quería, además de visitar las ruinas de Armero, y el Valle de Cócora.
It was time to return and although the rain had passed, it found us again a few kilometers ahead, so the trip to the German inn was completely canceled 😥, and from here we returned home because we had to leave later to other tasks.
One of my best days was here, and I hope that next time I can go to the destination I wanted, besides visiting the ruins of Armero, and the Cocora Valley.
