Who says honeymoons are only for two?
Me and my husband broke the tradition. We invited friends to come along with us to one of the most beatiful islands in the Philippines - Siargao.
Why with friends? Because I dont want to plan for the trip. HAHAHA Too tired and too occupied planning about the wedding and the more the merrier. You’ve got to celebrate your love with your friends. Hitting two birds with one stone effect. 😂
We booked a small room with free breakfast for five days and four nights. On our first day we visited the the coconut plantation view point where the famous human drone located.
It was nice but the wow factor was a little bit low since we live under the coconut trees at home.
Next stop was at Sugba Lagoon, we didnt do much we just jumped off on their diving board, swam for five minutes, and took a hundred photos. The view during boat ride was magnificent.
We had a seafood buffet for lunch and went to Magpopongko rock pools and flats. However, we’re not able to enjoy the pool due to violent waves of high tide. We just dipped in the water just so we can say we’ve been to Magpopongko. Another destination was the Maasin river, another slap of expectation vs reality. You can ride a boat and enjoy the river or jump in their diving board. We only ate fresh seafood there, took photos, and ended our honeymoon kick-off in the famous AFAM bridge. A typical bridge with lots of foreigners enjoying the sea view, the small talks from different individuals, and the scent and taste of variety of food.
Our second day started with early island hopping from the port to snorkeling, to guyam beach, to hidden beach, to naked island, and finally to daku beach. We really had a good swim in the early parts of the island hopping but as the tour goes on so as our energy decended.
Supposedly, partying was part of the itenerary. Unfornately, me and my husband had an upset stomach after the island hopping forcing us for frequent trips to comfort room. So our Indian friend wandered in the night party alone. He shouldn’t miss a thing, since he came all the way from India to attend the wedding and for that trip.
Third day was our free day, no scheduled tour. So we decided to stay at the room, whole day, take it slow while recovering from stomach pain and from all the non-stop traveling here and there. Fourth day, we set to visit the cloud 9, the famous surfing spot of the island.
It is said that if you wanted to test the strength of your friendship you should travel together. And yes its true 100%, traveling with friends really tests your patience and understanding for each other. We could be smiling in pictures but as soon as hearing the click of the camera smiles faded away. We had a bunch of laughter and silent treatment moments - its a roller coaster ride of emotions. No worries friendship still intact as we ended our trip.
If given the chance to rewind the whole thing, I would never hesitate to do it again. Honeymoon dont need to be traditional or should follow a rulebook. Your honeymoon, your way. So dont hesitate to plan your big life events according to your liking and how you imagine it to be. If you ever consider mixing romance with a little chaos (and a lot of joy), honeymoon with friends might be applicable to you. 🧡
It's a paradise. Its up to couples how to spead their honeymoon. And us, we spend with my family in an island. Have fun. 🥰
