What is Worldmappin?

Worldmappin is a map where any blogger on Hive can pin his posts, which is currently used by almost all travel bloggers on Hive.

Worldmappin is the re-birth of Pinmapple which was stopped by the former management by end of May / mid June 2024. We agreed with the former management to take over the project with a mainly new and partly old team.

We will develop the project further, add new functions for communities, add topics, and other features for all the people on Hive.

The plan

For the first few weeks, we will ensure all is running smoothly with the new brand.
In the second phase, we will maintain the system and plan new features. In the third phase, we will develop all the new ideas for the project

Phase 1 - Transfer

All the new infrastructure need to be created. The servers, domains and subdomains and other licences for the server need to get bought and oragnised. The existing code need to be checked, partly updated and transfered to new servers and their backup machines.

All this infrastructure need to be tested and managed and some security management by our operation team and the monitoring tools need to be activated and as well tested.

We will start with the curation for the community. Therefore we will grow the @worldmappin account by the help of the community with some more delegation to grow the voting power for quality posts

Phase 2 - Maintain

We will make sure all works fine and the curation team will grow to a group of people who have to manage all the post and quality checks.

The community on Discord will get some more activities, features, structure, and continuous information.

Phase 3 - Develop

We will bring the @worldmappin service to a new level. We like to add more functionality, and support for communities and other groups or topics. During the first two phases, we will collect even more ideas, extend the development team and start to deploy more and more features.

A small mobile Worldmappin App is on our radar to even have "mappin" more easy.

A bit of history

Back in August 2017, the first version of Pinmapple started @detlev was one of the first 10 users to add a Pin to his post, Since then we had more than 100000 pins from many Hive users added to the database. When I heard the project would be stopped, my decision took only a second to ensure it would survive.
