Präsentation.jpg

As you may know, parts of the @worldmappin team attended last week's Hive Meetup in Aachen. @detlev and @lizanomdsoul represented the project and talked about what has happened since we decided to continue Pinmapples legacy.

We checked the cockpit, if everything is running, got the crew together, started boarding, prepared everything for take-off, and are now stepping on the gas to take off with this community and start this beautiful journey together! - Of course, we also shared some ideas for the next steps to see where we are heading.

So here you can see our presentation in English:

What is @worldmappin

worldmappin.com is a map where every Hive blogger can pin their posts.

Worldmappin is currently used by almost all travel bloggers on Hive, with a huge community of 13,500 users.

There are two main ways people use Worldmappin:

A. Bloggers love it because they can have their world map with their pins on it. Every user has their own unique world map, like https://worldmappin.com/@detlev, where they can pin all their travels and memories.

B. All travelers use it to find information and inspiration for their next trips and to use it as a travel guide.

History of @worldmappin

On May 9th, the team at Pinmapple made the decision to close down their project. This was a significant moment as Pinmapple had been a well-known platform among travel bloggers and enthusiasts.

Following this decision, on May 30th, an announcement was made regarding the transition. This announcement covered the handover of crucial elements such as the codebase, the community, and other resources that were part of Pinmapple.

This transition led to the creation of @worldmappin and the formation of its new team. The birth of @worldmappin marked a new beginning, taking over where Pinmapple left off and continuing to serve the travel blogging community with renewed energy and focus.

What happened until now

Since May 9th, several key steps have been completed to ensure the successful transition from Pinmapple to Worldmappin. Here is a detailed overview of the progress made so far:

✅ Assemble Core Team: A dedicated core team was assembled, bringing together long-standing Hivers and experts in their respective fields to lead the Worldmappin project.

✅ Get in Touch with the Pinmapple Team: The new team reached out to the Pinmapple team to discuss the transition. This step was crucial for understanding the existing framework and ensuring a smooth handover.

✅ Choose a New Name: A new name, Worldmappin, was selected to reflect the project's focus on mapping and travel blogging.

✅ Create a New Hive Account: To establish a fresh start, a new Hive account was created specifically for Worldmappin. This account serves as the project's official presence on the Hive platform.

✅ Claim Website: The team secured the Worldmappin domain, ensuring that the project had a dedicated online space for users to interact with the map and community.

✅ Prepare Post for Continuation on Pinmapple: A detailed post was prepared to inform the existing Pinmapple users about the continuation of the project under the new name, Worldmappin. This post aimed to reassure users and provide guidance on how to transition to the new platform.

✅ Prepare Announcement Post for Worldmappin: An official announcement post was created to introduce Worldmappin to the community. This post highlighted the new features, goals, and vision of the project, inviting users to join and contribute.

The big goals are

To bring even more users to Hive via the map:
One of the primary goals is to attract more users to the Hive platform by leveraging the interactive map. By showcasing travel experiences and allowing users to pin their journeys, the map serves as a unique tool to draw in new users who are interested in travel and exploration.

To support the community even more in order to maintain the current users:
Ensuring that the existing community feels valued and supported is crucial. This involves providing continuous support, new features, and engaging content to keep current users active and satisfied with the platform.

To make the project more sustainable over time so that it can finance itself:
Financial sustainability is key to the long-term success of the project. The goal is to develop a model where Worldmappin can generate enough revenue to cover its operational costs and possibly even expand further without relying on external funding.

To continue to let the project run open source:
Maintaining an open-source approach is essential for transparency and community involvement. This allows anyone to contribute to the project, fostering a collaborative environment where improvements and innovations can continuously be made.

Thank you very much for all the great work you are doing, it is fantastic and admirable. Thank you all, always happy to be in this community!💗

Thanks @avdesing <3

Thanks to you!💗

Thanks for the English version of the presentation! Great to see transparency on things that have been done and I can't wait to see what the future will bring! I like the goals, especially the idea of onboarding through the map and building a self-sustainable project!

That is very important as it could be a great showcase that it is possible to do things without constant external financing DHF is great as a startup push, but it's not good if the project needs infinite financial support...

Good luck with Worldmappin and see you all at HiveFest!
