Oranienbaum Park is quite extensive. Here you can easily get lost and walk in circles in search of the right pavilion or palace. If you don't have a mobile phone and a Google map with you, you may never even find the right place in the park.

But since I know this place well, because I have been here many times before, my daughter and I headed in a south-westerly direction from the roller coaster and soon came to the Chinese Palace and the pond, which is located next to it.

HELP FROM THE NETWORK: The Chinese pond in Oranienbaum, as well as the Lower Pond, is not natural, but man-made. It was created somewhat later than Nizhny Novgorod, during the reorganization of the estate by architect Antonio Rinaldi. The reservoir owes its name to its location – at the Chinese Palace. Initially, the pond had a regular rectangular shape and was bounded by stone banks.
The pond was to become the central part of the composition, in which Rinaldi planned to include the palace itself, the maid of honor's house on the left bank from the palace facade and the coffee house on the right. However, the construction project of the latter was never carried out, and the maid of honor's house was converted in the middle of the XIX century into a pavilion of Chinese cuisine.

This place is not as majestic and pompous as most areas in front of large palaces. It seems that the pond and the park around are very cozy and that residents still live here. It seems that in another second, and from somewhere behind a tree, the silhouette of a lady in a long dress will flash, who went for a walk with a dog along the pond with an umbrella from the sun.

There is a lot of greenery here. There are century-old oak trees, linden trees and maples all around. The grass is neatly trimmed and the entire shore of the pond is so pleasant to look at. Here it is quite possible to sit on one of the stone benches and think about different things. If you are an artist, then this place is perfect for your inspiration.

There are a lot of marble sculptures around, which are made in an antique manner. Some of them are located on the very shore of the pond, and one or two are right in the middle of the water. Usually there are a lot of tourists in this place. Everyone is eager to visit the Chinese Palace. This is what we will also do, but a little later. Tomorrow I will show you other interesting views from this place. There is something to look at here.

Парк Ораниенбаума довольно обширный. Здесь легко можно заплутать и ходить кругами в поисках нужного павильона или дворца. Если у вас нет с собой мобильного телефона и гугл-карты, вы можете даже никогда не найти нужное место в парке.

Но так как я хорошо знаю это место, потому что многократно бывал здесь ранее, мы с дочкой направились в юго-западном направлении от катальной горки и вскоре вышли к Китайскому дворцу и к пруду, который расположен рядом с ним.

СПРАВКА ИЗ СЕТИ: Китайский пруд в Ораниенбауме, так же как и Нижний пруд, не природный, а рукотворный. Он был создан несколько позднее Нижнего, во время реорганизации усадьбы архитектором Антонио Ринальди. Названием водоем обязан своему местоположению – у Китайского дворца. Изначально пруд имел правильную прямоугольную форму и был ограничен каменными берегами.
Пруд должен был стать центральной частью композиции, в которую Ринальди планировал вписать сам дворец, фрейлинский домик на левом берегу от дворцового фасада и кофейный домик на правом. Однако, проект строительства последнего так и не был осуществлен, а фрейлинский домик переоборудовали в середине XIX века в павильон Китайской кухни.

Это место не такое величественное и помпезное, как большинство территорий перед крупными дворцами. Такое ощущение, что пруд и парк вокруг очень уютные и что здесь до сиз пор обитают жильцы. Кажется, ещё секунда, и откуда-нибудь из-за дерева мелькнёт силуэт дамы в длинном платье, которая вышла прогуляться с собачкой вдоль пруда с зонтиком от солнца.

Здесь много зелени. Вокруг стоят вековые дуби, липы и клёны. Трава аккуратно подстрижена и весь берег пруда такой приятный на вид. Здесь вполне можно сесть на одну из каменных скамеек и подумать о разном. Если вы художник, то это место идеально для вашего вдохновения.

Вокруг установлено множество мраморных скульптур, которые выолнеы в античной манере. Часть из них расположена на самом берегу пруда, а одна или две прямо посреди воды. Обычно в этом месте много туристов. Все стремятся посетить Китайский дворец. Именно это мы также сделаем, но чуть позже. Завтра я покажу другие интересные виды из этого места.
