Turning off the television sets for awhile and stepping away from the computer, we decided that it was the perfect time to go to one of the world famous German Christmas Markets. The first stop was Frankfurt. Although usually jam-packed with people, we found it rather empty on this bright sunny (but cold) day. Possibly due to the uncertainty of restrictive measures being implemented by those drunk with power. But until the Grinch totally steals Christmas, it was great to be out and about, breathing fresh air (well, restricted airflow fresh air), and enjoying the festivities.
Lots of food and drink was available and it smelled so nice walking around. The usual German cuisine - Schnitzel, Sausage, Potatoes, Breads of all sorts, as well as the Doner Kabobs, Pizza, Hamburgers, and such. Eat some, take some home.
Besides the delicious German beers and wine, during Xmas season there is an abundance of Glühwein - a warm delicious sweet spiced wine (either white or red). No pic needed as it just looks like drinking wine out of a coffee cup. Ha.
Something for everyone - especially the kids. Probably more fun in the evening with all the lights. And if you want to be super romantic, you can buy your sweetheart a Lebkuchenherz (ginger bread heart)
I felt a little ridiculous having to wear a mask outside in the open air - but rules are rules and we are supposed to blindly obey, right? That was the only annoyance, and everything else was really nice. It is nice to see happy people enjoying the holiday season.
Was a great day. We will go to another Christmas market in the evening when all the lights are on.
Have you ever been to a German Christmas market yourself? Which other countries (mostly European, I imagine) have great Christmas markets?
Enjoy your holidays!
The Christmas market looks awesome another reason to visit Frankfurt soon;) i have been on some german christmas markets because i am living in germany;) in germany i really like the the markets in cologne at the harbour or at the dom:)
Yes, come over sometime. I haven't been to the Koln Christmas market yet - but Koln is very nice. Check out Nuremburg sometime if you can. That is the best I think.

Dear @zeclipse, we need your help!
The Hivebuzz proposal already got an important support from the community and is close to be funded. However, it misses a few votes to get past the return proposal and your could make the difference!
May we ask you to support it so our team can continue its work this year?
