While Cam's dialogue in the third panel might be my own, the inspiration for it came from none other than my teenage son's video game habits. He likes to play Valorant and Minecraft, and sometimes when playing he forgets other people are in the living room. His trash-talking needs a bit of work, but what he lacks in vocabulary he makes up for in f-bombs. 🤨
While Dan is technically correct that Cam is able to clean up his act when the situation calls for it, there's another big reason Jen doesn't want to bring him along. Remember Cam's quixotic, half-drunken foray into politics when he ran for US president back in 2020? When you want your date to make a good impression on your folks, that's an uphill battle when that same date was viewed by hundreds of thousands at a livestreamed political debate wearing his pants on his head after numerous pints of beer. Of course, that depends... if they were habitual watchers of Jerry Springer, they'd instead be thrilled to meet somebody TV-or-Internet famous. 😏
