I can't pretend I know what is going on in Ukraine, but I know when Russia sent troops across the border, it was not a good sign. There is doubtless lingering tension from the Soviet era and its collapse remaining unresolved with old borders and new political disputes, but foreign "peacekeepers" do not bode well for peace, especially when they bring bombs and rockets down on civilians.
