Today in the shelter, a good dinner was served for all the refugees. It was supposed to be a good dinner for me too, I mean for general people the meal was good but not for me. The name of the meal was Mexican-style rice with pineapple chicken curry. And I don't like pineapples when they are cooked and act like a vegetable. I love pineapples but not with pizza or curry. Many people love cooked pineapples but for me, pineapples are only a fruit, nothing more than that. That's why I will never be a fan of Hawaiian pizza. So, when all the Ukrainians were enjoying their dinner, I was thinking about what to eat for dinner. Then later I decided to go with the meal slightly modified. I separated the pineapples and the chickens and I mixed the small pieces of the chickens with the rice. That's all I have eaten for dinner.
I am trying to keep my life simple and basic, attempting to keep it to a minimum as much as possible. It's not possible for me to eat outside every day, we don't have a chance to cook our own food, it's not allowed to cook where I am staying currently. So, my options are either eating food from the shelter or buying food from the outside, which is not a good option for everyday meals. So, it doesn't matter whether I like the food from the shelter or not, I eat it after slight modification. After all, if I eat in the shelter, it saves a lot of money too.
I started saving some money that I am earning from my job. My salary is minimum and I have some monthly expenses though I don't need to pay rent now. but in the future, when I will rent an apartment and if I decide to stay in the Netherlands, for housing I need a lot of money. It's not easy to get an apartment in Almere, Netherlands, there are some rules and regulations. I know a few rules but I am not taking the headache of finding an apartment now. I clearly know that I won't be able to afford single-month rent now and I have a big dog that requires a large single space. It was effortless to get a studio in Kharkiv but in the Netherlands, not easy. In fact, many people are waiting to get their own house and space. And the rent is really high if it is private property.
People from other part of the world thinks that European lifestyle is pretty amazing, seems like a fairy tale. Sometimes people can't see the reality of life or probably they don't want to see it. Because of the social media we love to see good things, everybody shares their perfect life. Nobody shares the hard and dark moments on social media because nobody wants to know about the hard times of life. Probabaly, I was not able to see the beauty and advantages of the European lifestyle because of my current life situations. Probabaly circumstances are not allowing me right now. I don't know yet...
I don't expect much now, it's like I am on a boat and I am going there wherever my boat is taking me. I don't know the destiny and I don't care about anything else now. My focus is only on my survival with my dog, nothing more than that.
I don't know how others are dealing with their life and I don't wanna know. It's too much for me. I can't handle so many opinions, it confuses me easily. I don't think I have PTSD anymore but I don't know. Life taught me many things and after fleeing from the war, I stopped thinking about the future and long-term plans.

I've always liked pineapple, either plain or cooked in foods. The sweetness balances nicely with pepperoni or salami on a pizza, or balances the rice wine vinegar & soy sauce in Sweet & Sour Chicken at a Chinese restaurant. There's not much food that I don't like! 😁
Sometimes, I think we try to make too many plans in Life. There is a certain pleasure that comes from "living in the moment," especially during healing phases. I think it is good to stop occasionally, and just BE. At times like those, the "big picture" of what is important can become clearer. Revel in drifting with the boat, for it might take you to someplace amazing. 🙂
I like sweet and sour chicken but if they use pineapple, I can't eat it. I love the sweet-sour flavor but I don't like pineapple if it is cooked.

Hawaiian pizza has quite a few detractors in many parts of the world. Personally, I am very adaptable with the use of fruits, for example, I think avocado (Palta or Aguacate) is a fruit that in many countries is consumed with dairy products and sweets (yogurt, milk, milk cream, etc.), but I accept that in some countries it is served seasoned with salt and as an accompaniment to meat, it is also the same with tomato, which I find so often in a meat stew, in a juice with lemon or raw in a salad.
On the other hand, I had read before that housing and service costs were very high in European countries, varying a bit from city to city, so I understand that you don't currently have a budget to rent on your own. It is good that you are saving, even if it is little at present, because in the future it should be useful to you.

The use of avocado nowadays is very popular and every way people like to eat it, tomato also the same but in my opinion fruits can be used for dessert but not in curry type of meal. But yes, it's people's choice...

I like cooked pineapple like the Brazilians make it barbecued with cinnamon. It's a digestive served on their all-you-can-eat barbecue buffet thing. I haven't tried in pizza nor in any of the Mexican dishes.
Life sucks. We have a pretty crazy idea about Europe just as they have a crazy idea of the life in LATAM. We are both wrong about it all. I hope you find some respite of your situation. It must the one of the hardest things to live through.
I love cinnamon but trust me I tried my best to like pineapples in food but I can't eat them in food. I am a spice girl and for me, pineapple is the only just fruit that I love to eat as a fruit... Probably, this is all about taste, for example, many people don't like mushrooms at all...

I can't stand cooked pineapples either. I never understood why people want to take a sweet wet fruit and either mix it in with a dish like its a veggie or put it on pizza. Waste of a perfectly fresh fruit in my opinion.
Your only focus being on survival is probably for the best.

Same opinion besides I don't like the taste because many put pineapple to give a sweet-sour taste but I personally think there are many ways to make food sweet and sour rather than using pineapples...

Wow very profound your final reflection, at the beginning of the post, it was just about the cooked pineapple, but you managed to capture my attention with your narrative, about the savings, the rental apartments, the plans and the long term that went out of your life.

The pineapple story seems to catch many people's eyes :D hahaha... Well, my point was the food we eat in the shelter/ refugee camp and the people like me who don't like cooked pineapple, it's very hard for them to have lunch or dinner only with cooked pineapple because there are no other options...
War literally changed my life including many people's lives, I honestly don't know when I will be able to go back home...
