You bring up some really interesting points. You reminded me of something my dad used to say: "Experience is the toughest teacher; it gives you the test before you've studied."

Nobody really knows how to be a parent at first. Few people prepare in advance, but there's something in most of us that drives us to do the best we can. Some are more successful than others, but ultimately, it's always worth giving our absolute best for our little ones.

For all the books you can read about parenting, living in the moment is the approach I have learned the most from. One key is learning from your mistakes (and doing something different) just as much as learning from your successes.
