The Heartfelt Journey of Parental Pride: A Day of Celebrating Achievements and Unwavering Support

Hi, good day everyone, I hope you are all doing fine today. I am here again, sharing a special moment with you. I hope you like it.

Every parents will be proud and happy whenever their kids are awarded for doing their exemplary best at school. We can tell to ourselves that our love,hardworks, sacrifices and encouragements are well paid off. It fueled our determination to do our best inorder to sent them to school and to have a better education for their future. Who is here who is not proud for the accomplishments or achievements of their children? I bet no one will disagree with me, right?

Recognition Day of My Kids

We woke up early because it was my kids recognition day and their program starts at exactly 8:30 in the morning. Me and my daughter, went to market to buy her hair bonds, since I always buy her but she eventually lost them the next day, so it means we don't have hair bonds at home.

When we are done buying , I fixed her hair the way I only know. I am not good at fixing hair since I am not fond of fixing my own.

While we are busy preparing, my partner is cooking our breakfast so our stomachs will be full before heading to the program.

When he done cooking,I serve the foods to my kids and told them to be full because we would not know what time will be the program would end , since there are lots of students nowadays. They might get hungry at the program.

We start walking on our way to the school gym. We just walk because the school is not far from our house.

As we are almost at the school gate, there are some parents also who walked through to school to accompany their children upon receiving their well deserve honors.

When we enter the school grounds there are lots of parents who have already arrived there and can not wait for the names of their children to be called and awarded.

When the program was about to start, my daughter's sandals suddenly got broken.I was devastated because she only have one pair of sandal, I just brought them the other day. I traded my 19 HBD just to buy her a pair of them.My husband bought a shoes glue, trying to fix it for her dear daughter.

We have left with no other choice, because the sandals can't stick together again with the shoes glue, so I asked my husband to borrow some motorcycle from any of his friends since we don't own any. To bring my daughter home and just wear her old shoes for the recognition.

If the school ground is crowded,how much more inside the school gym where the event held? There are lots of parents setting on the chairs inside, some are on the cement benches. And those who don't have chairs to sit with settled outside the school gym waiting for the program to begin.

The awarding begins, each student who showed their best at school are called one by one per grade level to receive their medals and ribbons.

Me and my partner settle near the stage, so he can easily get on stage when his children names are called to be awarded.

Before the recognition day, my husband prepares his outfit which he can wear on this occasion. Honestly speaking, I let my partner always get on stage and put the medals in my kids since they were schooling,even if I'm the only one who took the pictures and cannot accompany them on stage. I am always happy upon seeing them. The reason behind why I let my husband get up on stage often? It is because he told me that since he was young he never experienced being awarded. I validated his feelings ang gave way to him, since I used to received awards since grade one to highschool. Why we would not get both on stage? Because there is no one who will take pictures, it will serve as a remembrance for them when they will get older. I never thought their was a school photographer who would all do the capturing and post it in the school page where we can save our pictures. How would I know if I always absent at meetings🤣.

My daughter name was called, my husband excitedly get up on stage and walked with our daughter feeling proud upon putting the medals on her neck.

A friend of mine, asked me to capture them since she did not bring a cellphone. I understand her since I know the feeling of receiving medals without someone taking pictures of you. I already experienced it before, when everybody are capturing the precious moments of their loved ones and I'm right on the stage and nobody wanted to capture me. Because before,during my younger days our cellphones have no cameras on them. And if you ask someone to take a picture their is a charge of 50 pesos each photo. If you have money, then you can pose for 10 or more pictures, but if your parents have no budget for it then you will go home with no remembrance of the memorable occasion. I was just glad, that today, everyone can afford to take pictures of every moment of our lives, because our phones have cameras on them.

I took a photo of my daughter after she get down on the stage so I could send it to my sister who are so proud of her niece achievements.

I asked my husband to pose a picture with my daughter so I could send it to my sister.

And of course me with my daughter. Even if she does not hear me say that I'm so proud of her, but deep inside me I am so very proud of her achievements.

After my daughter gets her awards, we wait for our first born to get his. We are all aware that he is not good at school, sometimes I even compare her to her sister which is very wrong. He is at grade 4 level, so we waited for quite sometimes for his named to be called. I can see in his eyes that he was too excited to receive his award. His teacher was so kind to make her students proud on their recognition day, knowing that she chatted us on our GC that she will give awards to all of her students so everyone would be happy. His classmates were been called and he waited for his name to be called as well. But he thought that he was not included in the awarding and telling us to just go home because he was not part of the recognized students. How it pains me upon hearing his sentences,and I just told him to wait because the first to be called are those honor students.His eyes are almost teary, and light up when his name are called. He walked on the stage with his father at his back 🤣.

This is my son with his awards. He asked me why he had not received medals like her sister. It was hard for me to answer his questions, it pains me. I was failing as a mother because I was too busy with my own studies and I was not able to teach him the subjects his been struggling with. I was juggling as a student and as a mother and mostly I chose my own to secure their future but I neglected him on the process when he needed me the most. I just told him instead to keep on studying and do his best at school always. I alo told him that with or without awards, I'm still proud of him.

After the event ended, we decided to go to their grandma ( their father's mother) to celebrate. We rode on a tricycle, but before we step inside , we negotiate first with the driver about the fare. Settled and travelled together.

When we reached there, their grandma was so happy to see her grandchildren do their best at school. She treats us with hamburgers, actually this is her own business located in Don Gregorio Antigua Borbon Cebu. She told her grandchildren to study well so they could win the battles that we haven't win.

Cooked already and we take a big munch on the free food offered to us. How I love eating free food 🤣.

My kids like more catsup on there hamburgers so they add more on to them.

Their grandma gave us some shakes,to beat the heat, actually this is her own product.

My son enjoys his cold shake alone.

My partner's brother also gave my son his old shoes as a gift.

My kids modelled their grandma's business.

Their grandma also gave us some bread and coke as a snack since she was busy entertaining her customers and could not cook a meal for lunch. She asked us to cook but we refused because we were going home later.

After our visit at their grandma's place , we went home straight. We are sent home by my partner's brother to save our fare.

At home my daughter presented her awards to my father, who was slicing the onions at that time for our barbecue business. He was proud of my daughter and kept on asking what awards did she got. Just by looking, I know how my father really felt, because I am a parent already.

It's heartwarming to witness the joy and pride that comes with celebrating the achievements of my children. Where all our efforts and hardwork are well returned by the accolades they received and from all the congratulations. It also reminds me to be proud and happy of their achievements whether big and small and always be their to support and encourage them on their path to success.
