My greatest Love; He Taught Me How To Be a Mother

“I never knew there was a love like this before.”

I'm not sure why this song by Faith Evans kept ringing in my head all day. Perhaps it is because of this post. It's put me in a state of euphoria.

I'm not even about to mince words right now. It is very evident to the people around me that the greatest love that I've ever felt is having a child I call my own. I remember the day he was born like Yesterday.

When they put him in my arms it was like nothing mattered anymore. The world stood still and everything halted for the grand entrance of my SONshine. I'm sure even the sun in all its glory shimmered in envy of his glow. It was contagious and everyone felt it too that day. Everything was perfect and that right there was my divine moment. In flesh and blood.

That day, it felt like my life had been taken out of me and tucked safely into the most adorable and supple being I had ever seen. Ever since my heart has been full. Full of warmth, love, joy, and content. I could never ask my Rabb for more.

I never understood it when people utter words like, “I'll take a bullet for you”. Ladies and gentlemen, now I feel like I coined those words. I'll do anything for him. The one who has made me a mother.

I see the world through his eyes and I'm amazed. I marvel at the way his little mind works. It is pure bliss as I watch him grow day after day. It often feels so surreal sometimes. I remember a day when I watched him play so innocently with his toys. I whispered, “Are you real?” of course he only stared back at me. There he was, my greatest gift in life.

This pure soul forces me to be a better person every day. I wake up every morning with renewed strength and affirmation. I look forward to minutes, hours, and days with him. I want to be there and watch him embrace all that he is meant to be. I want to hold his hands and walk through life.

I want to hear his little screams and tantrums, his laughter and smiles that melt my bones and make me weak. I want the lazy days and crazy days with him. I'm creating memories and I love it. I will look back when I'm grey and I'll smile. I'll know that we did it. We made life.
