Our Final Week of Marching into Kindness!

in kindnesslast month

We continue this amazing challenge where we not only talk about kindness but also practice it...

Kindness... It's such a general topic. Everybody is kind of quick to refer to kindness. When you ask somebody what they think of "kindness", you get a quick, general response... normally along the lines of... "oh, that's simple. We all should be kind to one another". And that often means more along the line of "people should be kind to me..."

Wow! That's a harsh statement! Or is it?

How often do we see people who hardly notice acts of kindness from other people, yet they would be quick to judge people for their lack of kindness? While looking at that same person, there would often be a lack of kindness in their own lives toward other people.

When confronted with that fact, I find it amazing to listen to the excuses...such as "I'm a business person. I can't always be kind and smiling at everybody all day long", or... "The moment you are kind to other people, they think they can walk all over you". There are many more, but I'm sure you get the idea.

Many of these excuses are often exaggerated too... as in the first example I mentioned... "...I can't always be kind and smile at everybody all day long."

Well, nobody asked you to walk around smiling all day long. It might be something as simple as opening the door for a lady, or stepping back and giving way for an older person to enter through a door or space before you.

Also, do not confuse kindness with weakness. You don't have to be a weakling. You don't have to be anybody's floormat. Let your "yes" be yes, and your "no" be no. Be trustworthy and consistent in your actions. There is no need to be rude (or unkind) to appear strong.

Personally, I consider a leader with a kind, friendly personality, a stronger person than a leader who leads with aggression.

People will follow the kind, friendly person out of their own free will because they want to.

People who follow the aggressor will often do so out of fear or peer pressure, just to be part of a certain group.

So with all of that in mind, I think when we start thinking and talking about kindness, a good place to start is with ourselves.

When you start showing kindness toward other people, it is amazing how acts of kindness start coming back to you. By being kind, you can often remove tension from an otherwise stressful situation or even aggression.

The challenge we are taking part in this month gives us an amazing opportunity to learn more about KINDNESS! It allows us to learn more about KINDNESS and find ways to show kindness and also spread the word about KINDNESS.

What Have We Done or Achieved So Far?

On March 4, we saw many amazing posts being shared by Dreemers who told us what KINDNESS means to them.

Over the past two weeks, we kept a Kindness Journal, participated in the Kindness fact-a-day project by @gregscloud, and submitted our weekly challenge posts.

We also want to say "Well done and thank you for your support" to the following people who took part in last week's challenge:

@fragozar01, @emreal, @balikis95, @dwixer, @beeeee, @bipolar95, @kenechukwu97, @amiegeoffrey, @ngwinndave, @rukkie, and @ibbtammy.

This week, we are in the final week of the challenge!

Our Third Week: What it entails.

  • Kindness journal
  • Kindness fact-a-day (by @gregscloud )
  • Weekly Challenge post

Our Kindness Journal is simple!

You do the same as last week..., except, you'll have new suggestions this week.

Each day - take one of these suggestions (or create your own!) and simply do one!!! Keep track of what you do, because on Thursday, you'll be telling us what you did from Friday (March 15) to Thursday (March 21!) On your challenge post - at the bottom, state what you did each day, and feel free to add how you felt, how the other person reacted, something unexpected - etc!

Here are your SUGGESTIONS for this week - but remember, they are only suggestions! Feel free to be inspired to do something new - or .. one or two! (or more??) Can you even imagine how many lives we can touch by the end of this month???? THINK ABOUT THAT!

  • Share your umbrella with someone caught in the rain. A small act of sharing can make a rainy day brighter.
  • Send an inspirational book to a friend going through a tough time.
  • Write a thank you note to your favorite teacher.
  • Donate puzzles or board games to a nursing home.
  • Let someone with only a few items go ahead in the grocery line.
  • Draw a funny picture for a child on a restaurant placemat.
  • Write "you are beautiful" on a bathroom mirror with lipstick.
  • Leave out birdseed for your feathered friends.
  • Send a surprise pizza delivery to a friend.
  • Take a friend out for their birthday.
  • Leave sidewalk chalk out for kids to use.
  • Buy a coffee for the person behind you in line.
  • Tell a server their service was excellent.
  • Compliment a child's artwork

Whatever you decide to do - keep track in your KINDNESS JOURNAL, and ADD that to the bottom of your Challenge Post for this week!!!

Kindness fact-a-day

Again, you do the same as last week...

Head to @gregscloud on Dbuzz, and see what his Kindness fact is that day! Add a comment and share it out if you like! Every day - one comment will be chosen to receive 100 DREEM! Can you imagine the activity each day on these kindness facts??? Feel free to share on other social medias! Let's spread the word because our WORDS MATTER!!!

The WEEKLY CHALLENGE POST for Week 3!

We now allow for posts to be submitted on any day. BUT REMEMBER... since you have your Kindness Journal to add onto the post and your post is DUE on Thursday, March 21 - PLEASE make your post ON Thursday so it can have your FULL journal entries on it!

This week, you have a choice of FOUR options to write your post on this week.

The MAESTRO OF KINDNESS @gregscloud has compiled these for us beautifully. Do think about which one speaks to you - and share with us!!

  • Overcoming Barriers to Kindness:
How can we overcome barriers to practicing kindness for a more compassionate society?

Questions to consider:
What are the common challenges people may face when trying to practice kindness?
How do societal norms and expectations impact people's ability to show kindness?
What strategies can someone use to overcome personal barriers to kindness?
In what ways can education and awareness help promote a culture of compassion?
How can communities support and encourage acts of kindness among their members?

  • The Future of Kindness:

How can society embrace and advance kindness as a core value to create a more connected and harmonious world for future generations?

Questions to consider.
What strategies can be employed to institutionalize kindness as a foundational principle in societal structures and institutions?
How does the promotion of kindness contribute to addressing issues of discrimination and inequality within communities?
In what ways can advancements in technology be utilized to spread messages of kindness and empathy on a global scale?
How can education systems incorporate teachings on kindness and compassion to nurture future generations with these values?
What role does leadership at various levels play in setting examples of kindness and empathy for others to follow?

So choose one of those four topics above for your Challenge Post due on Thursday! Don't forget to add your Kindness Journal to the bottom of the post! And hop over to @gregscloud's dbuzz Kindness facts each day to spread the word and spread the kindness!!!! PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR POSTS to THE KINDNESS COMMUNITY and also PLEASE USE #DREEMERKINDNESS as the tag on the post too! And of course... submit to DreemPort!

Great topics for this week.
It's really painful that after publishing and curating, I couldn't submit my post on Thursday due to network challenge. Finally succeeded on Friday. Now my name isn't in the list 😭😭

I a world ravaged by individualism and egoism and hedonism, the gospel of kindness becomes an apt one to bring to the table. We should be kind to people around us even if it means in thw smallest things. It pays

#dreemerforlife

This topic is so nice, I can't wait to share my thoughts about kindness and how I help people around me. #dreemerforlife

Yeah, that's right. Kindness can be in many forms. We don't need to smile all day to show kindness. Standing up for a child or an old lady to sit in a train is an act of kindness.

Congratulations to those who participated in the second week of the challenge.

And... @gregscloud is indeed a Maestro with his topics. Thanks for making this challenge an amazing one!
