Happy new year and happy #mushroommonday
The weather has been warmer and foggy this year and it brought out the witch's butter. This stuff is great in soups or spiced and dehydrated as a chip or jerky.
This is amber jelly roll and it is much like the witch's butter.
I like to collect these jelly fungi and dry them out until there is enough to make a meal out of them.
Here is a strange sight. Did batman spray paint some puffballs.
These are probably pear shaped puffballs that got frozen then thawed and ended up black on the outside before they could spore out.
As usual there is some turkeytail growing on the same stump. Turkeytail is everywhere here and is a good medicinal as a powder, tincture or tea.
False turkeytail is everywhere too. Sadly there is no medicinal value to this stuff.
This is an orange crust fungi called tremella lunch box as many of the tremella jelly fungi end up parasitizing this stuff. So if you see this look for witch's butter or amber jelly roll.
Now for a spooky tree with all sorts of distorted faces in it. I see a good four faces here some in profile and some head on.
That's all for this new year hopefully I'll be getting some mushroom kits before winter gets too cold to let me forage anymore...
Thank you for sharing, you show a really cool fungal mushroom here.
Thanks for looking, I got lucky this year because the snow hasn't fallen yet and its still a bit warm to go out in the forest.
May all the tortured souls captive in that tree find peace in the new year 😜 nice fungi finds 👍
Oomph all those souls would definitely fill up an entire city. Maybe the cities dump their souls into various trees out in the country.
