“As a samurai, I must strengthen my character; as a human being I must perfect my spirit.” – Yamaoka Tesshu

Hey Everyone,

One of my personal goals is to read all the books in my Kindle library. I read a lot of books. But honestly, I haven’t retained all the information or even finished many of them. You see, I’m a sucker for the impulse Kindle purchase. On any given day I can browse through Amazon’s Kindle section and my mouse will click the Buy now with a 1-Click button before my brain intervenes. To make things worse I rarely download the sample to see if I like the book. The result is I have a lot of unfinished e-books on my Kindle device.

To give me accountability for finishing them, I will post a chapter summary every Monday. I’ll only write about books I currently own and I’ll post a summary of one chapter every week until the book is complete. These summaries will help me to retain the information and give you an opportunity to learn something in a digestible format.

My first book is called the Affirmation Matrix by Craig W. Hedge.

Book Title

The Affirmation Matrix: How To Create Powerful Affirmations for Success

Author

Introduction and Chapter 1 Summary

Main Idea:

The author lays out his basic premise in the introduction and first chapter. The premise is that affirmations are powerful tools for people ready to use them. These people are ready for a consciousness shift and want a strategy for being more effective.

The book introduces a problem it tries to solve. The problem is that affirmation media focuses too much on cookie-cutter methods. The traditional approach typically centers around themes like money, relationships, and fitness. The reader is expected to memorize cookie-cutter phrases and repeat them until their goal comes true.

The book acknowledges the effectiveness of affirmations, but people need to grow beyond the cookie-cutter approach. The purpose of the Affirmation Matrix is to delve deeper than other sources and to help you create your own affirmations from the ground up.

Key Points:

Affirmations are intentional words, sentences, and phrases designed to create circumstances and conditions that the affirmatory hopes to achieve.

You are already using affirmations because everything you think, feel, and do contributes to your life experience. When you use affirmations consciously you can choose the conditions of your own life. In this way, affirmations can be used to support goals and habit creation.

Affirmations are like tools in a toolbox. The most common way of using them is through the written or spoken word. Video, audio, and vision boards can be used to add variety.

Affirmations need to be made with the right information. They are more powerful when you create them, instead of using stock affirmations.

That’s it for this post. Next Monday I will post the summary for chapter two. Have a great week everyone.
