I think friendships that immediately dive into deeper conversational topics are the ones that show strength and longevity, you really get to know the person quickly and tell whether you're compatible or not.

You get it, buddy. It has always been my style. I am a talker, a thinker and an honest person and I prefer to spend time with people who are similar and who don't hide themselves behind a (metaphorical) mask. If I can't be myself around someone, we're just not a match.

Yeah a true telling of a person's personality is how they react to more serious conversations. If they shy away from something philosophical or are seemingly afraid of talks on emotion and the self, then you know they're just not going to match. Too many closed off people these days, unfortunately. So few interested in learning about who they are. But that's fine, it makes it more fun to find those who do share those similar thoughts.
