M3GAN [ESP-ENG]

Las películas de terror han evolucionado y de eso me di cuenta cuando vi está que tiene una combinación entre Chucky El muñeco diabólico y Ex-Machina. No hacia ni dos días que había conversado con mis hijos sobre el miedo que Chucky había causado en toda una generación, incluyéndome, y en la influencia que conservaba siendo una de las imágenes en la actualidad más usada para realizar memes de todo tipo.

Cuando decidimos ver M3GAN yo no sabía nada sobre lo qué trataba pero ya mi hija había visto adelantos en Tik Tok y otras redes sociales que hacían comparaciones con Chucky. Cómo ahora ya no me dan miedo los muñecos asesinos y aunque esté no es el género que más me gusta, de todas manera me dispuse a disfrutarla.

Horror movies have evolved and that’s what I realized when I saw this one that has a combination between Chucky The Devilish Doll and ExMachina. Not even two days ago I had talked with my children about the fear that Chucky had caused in a whole generation, including me, and the influence that he kept being one of the most used images nowadays to make memes of all kinds.

When we decided to watch M3GAN I knew nothing about what it was about but my daughter had already seen previews on Tik Tok and other social networks that made comparisons with Chucky. Since I’m not afraid of killer dolls anymore and even though this is not my favorite genre, I still decided to enjoy it.

Max es una niña que acaba de perder a sus padres en un accidente de auto en el que ella también era pasajera. Como no tiene más parientes cercanos a su madre, los servicios sociales se plantean concederle la tutela legal para que pueda vivir con su tía, hermana de su madre.

Gemma es una joven que trabaja como diseñadora en una empresa de juguetes de última generación y que sólo quiere crear un juguete con el que el niño pueda tener más interacción, la idea es crear un amigo para el niño. Ella y su equipo diseñan una muñeca de un metro con la inteligencia necesaria para cumplir este requisito y mucho más.

Gemma, al no saber cómo afrontar la situación con su sobrina, que está pasando por un duelo que la tiene deprimida, decide regalarle un amigo que siempre sepa qué decir y cuya prioridad será cuidar y proteger a Max.

Max is a young girl who has just lost both her parents in a car accident in which she was also a passenger. As she has no other relatives close to her mother, the social services are considering granting her legal guardianship so that she can live with her aunt, her mother’s sister.

Gemma is a young woman working as a designer in a cutting-edge toy company who just wants to create a toy with which the child can have more interaction, the idea is to create a friend for the child. She and her team design a one-meter doll with the necessary intelligence to fulfill this requirement and much more.

Gemma, not knowing how to deal with the situation with her niece, who is going through a bereavement that has her depressed, decides to give her a friend who always knows what to say and whose priority will be to care for and protect Max.

Al principio M3GAN puede parecer una combinación de varios personajes como Chucky, ExMaquina y Anabelle. Pero no estamos tan equivocados, ella sí se parece a los tres. Desde el primer momento que la vemos nos damos cuenta de que tiene esa expresión en la cara de maldad y de creerse más inteligente que los humanos que la rodean, pero está programada para cumplir con las orientaciones dadas por sus usuarios, la pregunta es, ¿qué tiene que hacer para cumplir con esas orientaciones?

Es una película divertida en la que los acontecimientos a diferencia de otras películas de terror no suceden todos bajo la oscuridad de la noche. La iluminación es brillante y te hace creer que no estás ante una película en la que van a ocurrir desgracias, aunque por la música sabes que algo se avecina incluso a plena luz del día y por el conocimiento que tienes sobre este tipo de películas te lo puedes imaginar.

Como he dicho, tiene mucho parecido con otras películas de terror que ya hemos visto, porque hasta el vestuario de vestido, jersey, medias y lazo de M3GAN me hizo recordar a “La Huérfana” la verdad es que para una persona que no es fan de las películas de terror he visto unas cuantas.

At first M3GAN may seem like a combination of several characters such as Chucky, ExMaquina and Anabelle. But we are not so wrong, she does look like all three. From the first moment we see her we realice that she has that expression on her face of evil and of believing to be more intelligent than the humans around her, but she is programmed to comply with the orientations given by her users, the question is, what does she have to do to comply with those orientations?

It’s a fun movie in which the events unlike other horror movies don’t all happen under the darkness of night. The lighting is bright and makes you believe that you are not in front of a movie in which misfortunes are going to happen, although by the music you know that something is coming even in broad daylight and by the knowledge that you have about this kind of movies you can imagine it.

As I said, it has a lot of resemblance to other horror movies we have already seen, because even the costumes of dress, sweater, stockings and bow of M3GAN made me remember “The Orphan” the truth is that for a person who is not a fan of horror movies I’ve seen a few.

La diferencia en este caso es que el mal viene dado por la creación del hombre y en varias películas se nos ha mostrado como el deseo y el ego de crear esta inteligencia artificial, en la mayoría de los casos no ha sido beneficioso para sus creadores. Si el propósito de este invento es facilitar la vida de las personas y resulta que superan o sustituyen nuestras responsabilidades, entonces ¿qué va a hacer la gente?

Esto es una película de ciencia ficción y entendemos que las máquinas se limitan a seguir órdenes sin razonar, pero qué pasa cuando esa inteligencia hace que una máquina piense en su lugar en el mundo y en lo que tiene que hacer para sobrevivir. Significa que ya no tengo miedo de los espíritus que se apoderan de los muñecos, sino de la inteligencia artificial creada por el propio hombre.

M3GAN me recuerda a los padres que no tienen tiempo para cuidar de sus hijos y les regalan un smartphone o una Tablet y esperan que estos aparatos les den cariño y eduquen a sus hijos. Aunque funcionen como entretenimiento si dejan que un niño pase más tiempo con ese aparato que con ellos, llegará un momento en que no podrán quitárselos o quizás vean cosas que no deberían en internet y ocurran desgracias. A lo mejor le estoy dando un sentido educativo a la historia y no tiene nada que ver y literalmente es solo una muñeca de inteligencia artificial muy malvada.

The difference in this case is that the evil is given by the creation of man and in several movies we have been shown how the desire and ego to create this artificial intelligence, in most cases has not been beneficial to its creators. If the purpose of this invention is to make people’s lives easier and it turns out that they surpass or replace our responsibilities, then what are people going to do?

This is a science fiction movie and we understand that machines just follow orders without any reasoning, but what happens when that intelligence makes a machine think about its place in the world and what it has to do to survive. It means that I am no longer afraid of the spirits that take over dolls but of artificial intelligence created by man himself.

M3GAN reminds me of parents who do not have the time to take care of their children and give them a smart phone or a Tablet and expect these devices to give them love and educate their children. Although they function as entertainment if they let a child spend more time with that device than with them, there will come a time when they will not be able to take them away or maybe they will see things they shouldn’t on the internet and misfortunes will happen. Maybe I am giving an educational sense to the story and it has nothing to do with that and it is literally just a very evil artificial intelligence doll.

A pesar de que no es mi género la pasé muy bien, en partes me hizo reír, no me pareció una película terrorífica, pero si tiene ese suspenso que te hace querer seguir viendo, no es para nada aburrida a demás cuenta con un buen final y quizás más adelante haya una segunda parte, quien sabe. Entonces te puedo recomendar está película para que pases un buen rato con lo que me pareció el nuevo modelo de terror.

Although it is not my genre I had a great time, in parts it made me laugh, I did not find it a terrifying movie, but it does have that suspense that makes you want to keep watching, it is not boring at all and it has a good ending and maybe later there will be a second part, who knows. So I can recommend this movie for you to have a good time with what I thought was the new model of horror.
