It was an acceptable film but the story with the girl was too far-fetched, and this was more like an action film and not a suspense film like the first one. I enjoyed the first one a lot more, and with this one, I felt the creators began to kind of overmilk the main character.

I can see where you're coming from on this one. The horror genre is devoid of any real icons these days and I find this character interesting. A genre film through and through with a little mass appeal. The original is certainly the superior film as you suggest.
I have a strong feeling there will be a third film based on post credits scene as @jcrodriguez mentioned.
