Chylka: a law thriller and a powerful woman (TV show)

Once again we are watching a new TV show, one different from the most known... and it is different for several things. On the one hand, it is a suspense and lawyer thriller, so far everything is normal, but it is Polish and its protagonist is a powerful woman, with a lot of character and intelligence, in addition to other details.

I must say that I had already seen some Polish TV show (in Spanish dubbed version of course😅) and I like them more and more, with Angel of Death for example, but I liked this one, named Chylka, even more.

So this is "Chylka" also called The Disappearance, I like more the original name that is what it has been kept on HBOMax and again as I have comment this is a Polish thriller TV show starring a successful female lawyer with the last name that gives the series its title.

Who are the main characters?

And this woman, Joanna Chylka, stands out for being a good and tough lawyer famous for her strong character, abrupt manner but also for always winning all her cases. She is relentless, and she is relentless with those around her.

At first she seems unfriendly, very rude and even unbearable, but despite that her new intern at the law firm, Kordian Orynski or 'Zordon' as she calls him, wants her to be his tutor.

Well, here begins a strange relationship of respect and admiration, but with somewhat rough manners and dry words, especially at the beginning, where the patience of the intern and his know-how will gain points, until he becomes essential in the work he is doing. They make a good team, maybe something more? Ah.... [NO spoiler]

What is this about?

The TV show is about this strong-willed lawyer in a law firm run by people with power, and she enters that game. She supports herself thanks to her good results and winning lawsuits, her life is based on work.

In the first season, she receives a strange call from a friend from the past who confesses that her little daughter has disappeared and the police accuse her and her husband and parents of having killed her. So she decides to intervene, going with her new intern to her remote house and begins to investigate without knowing that this will lead to a hidden plot and surprises that she did not expect.

In the second season, it is even more intriguing. They arrest the son of a powerful "business" man because in his house there are two dead people in bed who have been tortured and the father of that guy wants Chylka to defend his son but not to free him but to get the justice system to commit him to a psychiatric hospital.

Everything is very strange, so the lawyer and her intern will accept but when investigating this strange situation, because she does not want to let herself be won in the trial, she knows that although he seems guilty he is not and they both decide to investigate further... finding themselves with very dangerous gangsters and putting both of them at risk while they investigate and discover that there are links even with those they direct, ahhh... [NO spoiler]

Anything else to comment?

With each episode the series is certainly more interesting, and well at the beginning the lawyer with that strong character and always drinking does not seem very nice but little by little we can perceive something of who she really is, also about her relationship with her family and how to understand it. And then I really like that particular character.

She is strong, aggressive, she smokes and drinks a lot, and she also eats a lot, a lot of meat, and she is very intelligent and brave. With her character and knowledge, she seeks the truth despite everything, and all this in a world of hard men, without mercy and sometimes even dangerous, causing her to fall to the deepest depths, but Chylka gets up, fights and wins.

And now... I hope HBO Max airs out the new third season SOON.

I have watched the two seasons currently broadcasted on HBOMax, and looking forward to watching the new season 3! (Here still not available).
