Ayer fui a ver Mario Bros, la película. Al entrar al cine me tomé una foto con los chicos, porque quería guardar el recuerdo de mi primera vez en una sala 4D; para mi sorpresa, al subirla en mi estado de WhatsApp, al menos tres personas me dijeron al instante: "es una peli muy mala"; sinceramente no di mucho crédito a lo que leía y me dispuse a pasar un buen rato con mis amigos, recordando la infancia. La verdad, nunca fui muy amante de los juegos de video. Mis experiencias se resumen en: ir a casa de mi vecino a jugar Las Tortugas Ninja y Mario; jugar con mi mejor amiga Mortal Kombat y Mario 64; ir a la casa de playa y jugar Mario Kart, o esperar a mi primo y jugar con el Wii. A que no saben que? ... si, adivinaron; Mario.
Entonces no podía dejarme llevar por lo que me dijera nadie, yo tenía que estar ahí. No cabe duda que esta película ha dado muchisimo de que hablar; principalmente porque no realizó ningún cambio a sus personajes originales, ante la corriente inclusiva. Esto trajo consecuencias con los progresistas radicales que supuestamente se niegan a ver Mario Bross porque no tiene ningún personaje que forme parte de la comunidad LGBTIQ+, ni hay ningún personaje afroamericano, y también por estar en cotra de la conducta de Bowser, el villano de la historia.
Lo cierto es que, palabras más, palabras menos, las expectativas que se tenian de la película no daban mucho pie a imaginar que sería el exito de taquilla que ha sido. Y muy personalmente, no me imaginé jamás que esta película me gustara tanto como lo hizo.
LOS PERSONAJES
Mario y Luigi son un par de hermanos muy famosos desde siempre. De niños conocimos a un par de ilustraciones a través de las cuales los jugadores del videojuego más famoso de la historia (en mi criterio) cruzaron mundos increibles y superaron una y mil veces retos que cada vez se hacían más difíciles, como la vida misma. Me gustó muchísimo el fondo que le dieron a este par, la fuerza de su vínculo "todo estará bien si estamos juntos" imposible no sentirme identificada con eso; sin embargo me pareció un poco al extremo la personalidad de Luigi, bastante dependiente de su hermano para todo, Mario era en lo único que Luigi creía realmete.
Mario por su parte fue siempre un arriesgado aventurero, capaz de enfrentarse a los desafíos una y mil veces. Alguien que no sabe cuando rendirse. Y su motivación principal era vivir su sueño, la aprobación de su padre y el amor de su hermano.
Bowser fue un malo muy bueno, la verdad infundía el temor requerido. La maldad sostenida en la ausencia del amor y reforzada en una obsesión no correspondida. Nada podía salir mal con un personaje tan bien hecho. Me parece que es la joya de la corona en esa pelicula, junto con la princesa. Me reservo los comentarios acerca de que es un acosador, o sea, si, ¡lo es! Pero es un villano y está enamorado, de que manera puede amar un villano sino así.
Peach fue una princesa maravillosa, linda, dulce, fuerte, entregada a los habitantes del mundo champiñón, sin miedo en su corazón, gentil y dispuesta a ayudar. Me gustó mucho que a pesar del machismo claramente manifestado del villano, ella manejó la situación audázmente. Esto me hace pensar que no está mal la existencia de Bowser en la peli y su conducta altamente criticada, porque ¿Qué le vamos a enseñar a las niñas de ahora y mujeres de mañana? ¡Los acosadores existen! y hay que estar preparadas para enfrentarlos!
Me sorprendió mucho la profundidad de personajes como Donkey Kong, que detrás de toda la violencia de gladiador también buscaba aprobación en su padre y la necesidad de afecto de todo bully y justo cuando mostró su punto débil empatizó con nuetsro protagonista, que como buen muchacho de la historia terminó viendo más allá de lo aparente y convirtiendose en su amigo.
Tampoco puedo dejar de mencionar a estrella azul que estaba encerrada, de verdad. No me quedó claro de donde salió ni por qué estaba ahí, pero le da un toque genial a la película. Investigué y me encontré con un nombre, se llama Lumalee. Definitivamente muy cómica, tan adorablemente depresivos y oscuros sus diálogos que me mataron de risa.
LAS COSAS QUE ME GUSTARON
Un argumento bastante simple, nada rebuscado; y la verdad lo agradezco. Siendo la primera vez que iba a una sala 4D, no me imagino matándome la cabeza con una histora demasiado complicada mientras vibraba mi silla y me caía agua en la cara, además es una pelicula a parentemente para niños que se desarrolla en un mundo fantástico, ¿qué podíamos esperar?
Definitivamente la música fue algo que me pareció fantástica, la recontrucción de los temas clásicos que siempre escuchamos en los juegos me dejó encantada. No es nada nuevo esto, no es la primera vez que la frase musical de Mario es rearmonizada en alguna especie de tributo, pero para mí siempre fue el mismo tema cantado o tocado de diferentes maneras; esta vez hubo mucha creación, una obra nueva tras otra, pero que contaban con el mismo espíritu. Hicieron un gran esfuerzo en que la música que recien crearon para la peli, reflejara sin lugar a dudas la cercanía con lo anterior. Y para estar hablando de algo que se creó ¡hace 40 años! no cabe duda que estamos frente a una genialidad; porque dentro de todo lo nuevo, que me enamoraba nota tras nota, encontraba como serendipias las melodías que ya conocía. Esto me parece genial, siempre me han encantado estos tropezones.
Además y no menos importante, la selección de los temas que se usaron para complementar el soudtrack de la peli, muy bien adaptados a las ideas y muy bien ubicados en el tiempo, unos cuantos exitos ochenteros que nutrieron algunas escenas, para dar el toque final de la ingeniosa labor del director musical.
Casi olvido hablar de la increible canción de Bowser!! Un tema original del siempre extrovertido y super talentoso Jack Black. Poderosa balada rock con una interpretación impecable. No hay palabras que describan este tema! no sale de la mente facilmente, y aunque ha sido muy controversial debo decir que me parece increible, porque aunque me mate de risa, no deja de ser un temazo, la forma en que un villano te puede declarar su amor enfermo, amor con rabia. Me gustaron mucho unas escenas particulares, pero hubo una que lo superó todo, cuando Mario tiene que pasar el nivel de entrenamiento. Me conmovió muchísimo y de verdad agradezco se hayan tomado la molestia de resaltar el espíritu inquebrantable de los niños de más de 30 años que pasaron noches en vela atravesando mundo por mundo, sin miedo a volver a empezar cada vez que caían. Y con la esperanza del "Ahora si!". Lo sé soy super sensible, pero vamos! ¿No les parece una analogía insuperable? Esa escena fue lo que esperaba mi corazón que fuera. Si lo hubiera logrado en la primera, que va, no me hubiera gustado.
También adoré que incluyeran Mario Kart y Donkey Kong en unas super divertidas escenas. No dejaba de aplaudir en el cine y en el momento que usaron la estrella casi me da un infarto, dedo confesar que esperé ese momento todas y cada una de las veces que salía algo de una caja sorpresa. Mis compañeros, bastante menos eufóricos lo pensarán dos veces antes de invitarme a ver una pelicula que me regrese a la infancia.
Me encantó la escena post-creditos; la esperamos por un buen rato; pero valió la pena escuchar la característica voz de mi personaje favorito para cerrar una velada mágica que me dejó con ganas de mucho más.

Yesterday I went to see Mario Bros, the movie. When I entered the cinema I took a picture with the guys, because I wanted to keep the memory of my first time in a 4D theater; to my surprise, when I uploaded it on my WhatsApp status, at least three people told me instantly: "it's a very bad movie"; honestly I did not give much credit to what I read and I was ready to have a good time with my friends, remembering my childhood. Truth be told, I was never much of a video game lover. My experiences can be summarized as: going to my neighbor's house to play Ninja Turtles and Mario; playing Mortal Kombat and Mario 64 with my best friend; going to the beach house and playing Mario Kart, or waiting for my cousin and playing with the Wii. Don't you know what? ... yes, you guessed it; Mario.
So I couldn't get carried away by what anyone told me, I had to be there. There is no doubt that this movie has given a lot to talk about; mainly because it did not make any changes to its original characters, in the face of the inclusive current. This brought consequences with the radical progressives who supposedly refuse to watch Mario Bross because it does not have any character that is part of the LGBTIQ+ community, nor is there any African American character, and also for being against the behavior of Bowser, the villain of the story.
The truth is that, words more, words less, the expectations of the film did not give much to imagine that it would be the box office success that it has been. And personally, I never imagined that I would like this movie as much as I did.
THE CHARACTERS
Mario and Luigi are a pair of brothers who have always been very famous. As children we knew a pair of illustrations through which the players of the most famous video game in history (in my opinion) crossed incredible worlds and overcame a thousand times challenges that became more and more difficult, like life itself. I really liked the background they gave to this pair, the strength of their bond "everything will be fine if we are together" impossible not to feel identified with that; however I found Luigi's personality a bit extreme, quite dependent on his brother for everything, Mario was the only thing Luigi really believed in.
For his part, Mario was always a risky adventurer, capable of facing challenges over and over again. Someone who doesn't know when to give up. And his prime motivation was to live his dream, his father's approval and his brother's love.
Bowser was a very good bad guy, the truth instilled the required fear. Evil sustained in the absence of love and reinforced in an unrequited obsession. Nothing could go wrong with a character so well done. She seems to me to be the crown jewel in that movie, along with the princess. I'll reserve comment about him being a stalker, I mean, yes, he is! But he's a villain and he's in love, how else can a villain love.
Peach was a wonderful princess, cute, sweet, strong, devoted to the inhabitants of the mushroom world, fearless in her heart, gentle and willing to help. I really liked that despite the clearly manifested machismo of the villain, she handled the situation boldly. This makes me think that there is nothing wrong with the existence of Bowser in the movie and his highly criticized behavior, because what are we going to teach the girls of today and women of tomorrow? bullies exist! and we have to be prepared to face them!
I was really surprised by the deepness of characters like Donkey Kong, who behind all the gladiator violence was also looking for approval in his father and the need for affection of every Bully and just when he showed his weak point he empathized with our protagonist, who as a good boy of the story ended up seeing beyond the apparent and becoming his friend.
I also can't fail to note the blue star that was locked up, really. It wasn't clear to me where she came from or why she was there, but she adds a cool touch to the movie. I did some research and came across a name, her name is Lumalee. Definitely very funny, so adorably depressing and dark her dialogue killed me with laughter.
THINGS I LIKED
Pretty simple plot, nothing far-fetched; and I actually appreciated that. Being the first time I went to a 4D theater, I can't imagine killing my head with an overly complicated story while my chair was vibrating and water was falling on my face, plus it's a movie apparently for kids that takes place in a fantastic world, what could we expect?
Definitely the music was something that I thought was fantastic, the reconstruction of the classic themes that we always heard in the games left me delighted. This is nothing new, it's not the first time that Mario's musical phrase is reharmonized in some kind of tribute, but for me it was always the same theme sung or played in different ways; this time there was a lot of creation, one new work after another, but with the same spirit. They made a great effort so that the music they just created for the movie, reflected without a doubt the closeness to the previous one. And to be talking about something that was created 40 years ago! there is no doubt that we are in front of a genius; because within all the new things, that made me fall in love note after note, I found as serendipities the melodies that I already knew. I think this is great, I've always loved these stumbles.
Also and not least, the selection of the themes that were used to complement the soudtrack of the film, very well adapted to the ideas and very well placed in time, a few eighties hits that nourished some scenes, to give the final touch to the ingenious work of the musical director.
I almost forgot to mention the incredible Bowser's song! An original song by the always extroverted and super talented Jack Black. Powerful rock ballad with a flawless performance. There are no words to describe this song! It doesn't leave your mind easily, and although it has been very controversial I must say that I find it incredible, because even if it kills me with laughter, it is still a great song, the way a villain can declare his sick love, love with rage. I loved some particular scenes, but there was one that topped it all, when Mario has to pass the training level. I was very moved and I really appreciate that they took the trouble to highlight the unbreakable spirit of the 30+ year old kids who spent sleepless nights going through world after world, not afraid to start over every time they fell. And with the hope of "Now if!". I know I'm super sensitive, but come on! Doesn't that seem like an unbeatable analogy? That scene was what my heart hoped it would be. If it had made it in the first one, what the heck, I wouldn't have liked it.
I also loved that they included Mario Kart and Donkey Kong in some super fun scenes. I kept clapping in the theater and the moment they used the star I almost had a heart attack, finger confess that I waited for that moment each and every time something came out of a surprise box. My companions, much less euphoric, will think twice before inviting me to see a movie that takes me back to my childhood.
I loved the post-credits scene; we waited for it for quite a while; but it was worth it to hear the characteristic voice of my favorite character to close a magical evening that left me wanting much more.
Have you seen it? I wouldn't hesitate to see it a couple more times. Thanks for making it this far and sorry for the spoilers.

Lo mejor es no prestarle atención a un montón de resentidos sociales con los sobacos peludos y pintados de azul, yo estoy contento y feliz porque por primera vez en tanto tiempo no se cambia la historia de una película por el gusto de una pequeña minoría resentida con el mundo y la sociedad.
Además la historia estuvo genial los personajes estuvieron magníficos y totalmente apegados a la historia original.
Qué bueno que la hayas disfrutado en la experiencia 4d yo vi esta película de una manera muy extraña y de una fuente dudosa 🤣🤣🤣

Chico, mira, lejos de postularme como defensora de ninguna tendencia, pretendo siempre ver y hacerme la loca olimpicamente, cada quien con su arte hace lo que quiera, incluso los que deciden cambiar historias o personajes, quizá no me encante pero bueno, si lo hacen así preocuro encontrar el lado bueno del asunto siempre. Al final ningun extremo me parece bueno.
Con respecto a la peli, como podrás ver de verdad me encantó. Incluso llegué a decirle a un amigo que me sentí más feliz al salir del cine despues de Mario, que la vezque sali de Harry Potter, porque aquella vez tenia demasiadas expectativas no cumplidas. Caso contrario de esta ocasión.
