Greetings dear movie lovers, I tell you that this weekend I had the opportunity to see a movie that I really liked and which I felt very identified, it is a romantic comedy, directed by Will Gluck released in December 2023, unlike the others this film is not based on the typical pink love story; instead, it leaves us a powerful message that in love there should be no pride or prejudice, as this will lead us in many cases to fail in relationships. It stars Sydney Sweeney (Bea) and Glen Powell (Ben), who in my opinion have an extraordinary chemistry between them, beautifully influencing their performance in each of their roles.
Saludos queridos cinéfilos amantes del buen cine, les cuento que este fin de semana tuve la oportunidad de ver una película que me gustó mucho y de la cual me sentí muy identificada, se trata de una comedia romántica, dirigida por Will Gluck estrenada en diciembre del 2023, a diferencia delas demás esta cinta no se basa en la típica historia de amor rosa; en cambio, nos deja un poderoso mensaje en cuanto a que en el amor no debería haber orgullo ni prejuicios, ya que eso nos llevara en muchos casos a fracasar en las relaciones. Está protagonizado por Sydney Sweeney (Bea) y Glen Powell (Ben), quienes en mi opinión tienen una extraordinaria química entre ellos, influyendo maravillosamente sobre su actuación en cada uno de sus roles.
This story narrates the relationship between Ben and Bea, who from the moment they meet, an immediate attraction arises between them, which leads them to spend the day together telling each other about their lives, that same day they go to Ben's house where they prepare dinner and tell each other about their desires and fears, they end up sleeping together that night, but without having sexual intimacy, they have already shared a higher level of intimacy, baring their souls to each other. But all this romantic evening will come to an end when in the morning Bea wakes up and feeling strange there, decides to leave without saying goodbye. Seeing that she left in such an abrupt way, without caring about the wonderful connection they had had the night before, he is filled with courage and decides to tell a friend who arrives at that moment, that he had met a girl who seemed a complete disaster and thanks God that she left, at that moment Bea regretting having left returns to Ben's house and listens to what he says to his friend, upset and disappointed she leaves in silence and decides to forget about this man who she labels as being the same as the others. And that is how a relationship that had everything to prosper ends before it even began.
Esta historia nos narra la relación de Ben y Bea, quienes desde el momento que se conocen surge una atracción inmediata entre ellos, que los lleva a pasar el día juntos contándose sobre su vida, ese mismo día van hasta la casa de Ben donde se preparan la cena y se cuentan sobre sus anhelos y temores, terminan durmiendo juntos esa noche, pero sin tener intimidad sexual, ellos ya han compartido un nivel de intimidad superior, desnudando su alma al otro. Pero toda esta velada romántica llegará a su final cuando en la mañana Bea se despierta y sintiéndose extraña ahí, decide irse sin despedirse. Él al ver que ella se fue de esa forma tan abrupta, sin importarle la maravillosa conexión que habían tenido la noche anterior, se llena de coraje y decide expresarle a un amigo que llega en ese momento, que había conocido a una chica que le pareció un completo desastre y da gracias a Dios que ella se marchó, en ese instante Bea arrepentida de haberse marchado regresa a la casa de Ben y escucha lo que él le dice a su amigo, contrariada y decepcionada se retira en silencio y decide olvidarse de este hombre quien tilda de ser igual a los demás. Y así es como una relación que tenía todo para prosperar se acaba antes de empezar.

En este parte de la historia podemos reflexionar sobre el miedo al compromiso que demostró Bea, y a pesar de que existía una fuerte atracción entre ellos, prefirió abandonar la idea de pedir una explicación y se marchó por temor a ser lastimada de nuevo. Con respecto a Ben este actuó a la defensiva también, colocándose una máscara para no demostrarle a Bea cuanto le había afectado su abandono. Esta clase de conducta de orgullo, no hace más que reforzar su percepción sobre ¿hasta qué punto tus heridas del pasado pueden sabotear tus potenciales relaciones? ¿Acaso el hecho de haber tenido malas experiencias te impedirá ser feliz con otra pareja?, estas interrogantes podemos descubrirlas a través de esta maravillosa historia, a medida que se desarrollen estos personajes más adelante.
The story continues a year later, when Ben and Bea meet again on a celebration trip for the wedding of some friends in common, they treat each other in a very hostile and even rude way in front of their friends and family, being impossible for them to stand each other during that weekend. Apart from all this Bea is constantly pressured by her parents to get a boyfriend, so she decides together with Ben to make a truce and pretend to be together as a couple so as not to ruin the wedding and Bea's parents leave her alone; as a result of this pact we can enjoy many funny scenes that will make Ben and Bea, put aside their wounded pride and fall in love for real.
One of the scenes that I liked the most is when she accidentally falls off the ferry and he, not knowing how to swim very well, jumps in to rescue her, they end up floating on a buoy and they both come clean with each other, finally they put their pride aside and Ben confesses that he felt very hurt when she left and apologizes for what he said, since he didn't really think that of her; she confesses to him that that night for her had been special and also apologizes for leaving, and even confesses to him that she had turned back when she realized her mistake, they both look into each other's eyes and connect again. Notice how a 5 minute conversation, changes all the anger, disappointment and sadness they had felt for a whole year, just for the simple fact of leaving things like that without any explanation, and a simple misunderstanding changes everything.
La historia continua un año después, cuando Ben y Bea se encuentran de nuevo en un viaje de celebración para la boda de unos amigos en común, se tratan de manera muy hostil y hasta grosera delante de sus amigos y familiares, siendo imposible para ellos soportarse durante ese fin de semana. Aparte de todo esto Bea está constantemente presionada por sus padres para que consiga un novio, por lo que decide junto con Ben hacer una tregua y pretender estar juntos como pareja para no arruinar la boda y que los padres de Bea la dejen en paz; a raíz de este pacto podremos disfrutar de muchas escenas divertidas que harán que Ben y Bea, aparten su orgullo herido y se enamoren de verdad.
Una de las escenas que más me gusto es cuando ella cae accidentalmente del ferry y él sin saber nadar mucho se lanza a rescatarla, terminan flotando en una boya sincerándose el uno con el otro y bajando la guardia por fin apartan su orgullo a un lado y Ben le confiesa que se sintió muy herido cuando ella se marchó y le pidió disculpa por lo que dijo, ya que él realmente no pensaba eso de ella; ella le confiesa que esa noche para ella había sido especial y también se disculpa por haberse marchado, e incluso le confesó que se había devuelto cuando se dio cuenta de su error, ambos se miran a los ojos y conectan de nuevo. Fíjense como una conversación de 5 minutos, cambia toda la rabia, decepción y tristeza que habían sentido ellos por todo un año, solo por el simple hecho de dejar las cosas así sin darse ninguna explicación, y un simple malentendido lo cambia todo.

Parece bastante entretenida está historia de Ben y Bea, se nota esa conexión entre ellos que pese al tiempo que no se veian al volver a verse se aliaron para una mentirita verdadera porque se nota que se gustan más de lo que ellos no saben.
