Best Of A Kind: Nollywood Triple Threat Review

Nowadays, I've been greatly influenced into appreciating my country (Nollywood) movies so much that I'm even becoming a fan of some actors including the upcoming ones. It's actually beautiful that I'm here wriing this review, my readers know me to always review kdrama or k-movies so this may come on very different from the usual but it is a very interesting diversion.

The popular Nollywood actor, Maurice Sam is doing amazingly well in the industry and even has his own TV where he leads in new and interesting movies every month as I've noticed. From his countless movies, I've seen up to 8 of them and here are the best 3 I'll recommend to anyone. They were all released in this year 2024, all Nigerian movies, same male lead character but very different and beautifully written storylines.

Lost In Love

2hr 35mins - Comedy (70%) & Romance (30%), starring Maurice Sam and Pearl Wats.

The first on my list is this one about a guy (Maurice) who lives with his wealthy father, spends so much time with women, acts very wayward that his father always worries about what will become of him as he is old enough to get married and make a life for himself. The guy come across a girl working at a restaurant, casually assaulted her sexually and got a deserving reaction. They meet again in his house where his father had hired her as the house help.

The comedy and drama from where he tries all he could to kick her out of the house since she refused to give in to him till he started falling for her is a refreshing watch for anyone that enjoys romance movies. I actually like the female lead in this one, she played the innocency well and the twist towards the end was worth my time on it.

Crazy About You

2hr 17mins - Romance (20%), Drama (30%) & Comedy (50%), starring Maurice Sam, Sophie Alakhija and Denrele Edun.

The next on the list is a story about a guy who can't find an opportunity to ask girl out, he had been in love with her for a long time with no actions taken by him. That changed when his cousin decided to help out after he got closer to the girl and her female friends. His cousin is a fashion guy who identifies more as a lady than a man, so he was welcomed into the girl group very easily. Reluctantly but determined, the guy decided to dress as a lady too like his cousin.

This has got to be my most favourite from this best list, a storyline I had never imagined I'll see in a Nollywood except in those old comedy movies I saw years ago. The story was so refreshing, very funny and I specially appreciate that the role of the guy's cousin was given to Denrele Edun, he owned the character so well.

The Bride

1hr 46mins - Comedy (20%), drama (50%), Romance (30%), starring Maurice Sam and Teniola Aladese.

The last but not the least on this list is one about a guy who was out with his fiance but got kissed by a total stranger and was misunderstood. His fiance leaves him without giving him a chance to explain himself, he puts all the blame on the lady who randomly kissed him and they both go on a hilarious and dramatic mission to win back his fiance or find a new bride for him no matter what. The girl went from begging to searching, it's a whole drama whenever the two are together.

Even though the storyline is kind of too dramatic, I think that is what makes it different and interesting to watch. I mean, who asks a lady to find him a new bride because she was the cause of his first leaving him? Lol. Well, you should check this one out and watch the drama unfold.

I hope you do check one out at least, they are interesting and great for a binge watch if you're up for one. Let me know what you think about these movies and if you'll see them.
