The Crying Game (1992): Unraveling Complexity and Timeless Themes

Ebert emphasizes the importance of casting in the film's success. Roger touches on a few things that go over this viewer's head, but even to a layman, Fergus spoke volumes. Stephen Rea's portrayal of Fergus captures the essence of a good person entangled in a life of violence. At times, it didn't even feel like a movie. I could see myself, pressured by peers to "do what must be done" and the conflict on my face deliberating my choices.

True Detective ~ 2015: Tenemos el Mundo que Merecemos

And Farrell is one of the not-so-popular actors in Hollywood (in my opinion), since he usually similarly plays his characters and doesn't get out of his comfort zone to stand out a little bit. Although how he worked in S.W.A.T. was one of my favorite characters, he still has that cop tone in every role he plays and he can't shake it.

Binge on This - Lilyhammer: NYC Mobster in Norwegian Backwaters

Of course all the laughter can drone the warning bells only for so long, before the whole series starts looking way too absurd. Given the fact that Lilyhammer has three seasons, it deserves all the respect for having made it this far. But after a while, too many innocents have been beaten up mistakenly, the docile cops have been vamped up by a no-nonsense police lady, and even Frank's past is starting to catch up with him. So despite the record breaking popularity of the show, it was brought to a clean closing before it all got out of hand. What remains, is a series that takes the viewer from roaring laughters to cringe that makes one embarrassed for watching it. All in all, I consider it great entertainment, getting me another dose of what I am learning Scandinavian humor to be like. For a first impression, take a look at its trailer.

The Quiet Girl (2022): a silent request for love | una silenciosa petición de amor

With a simple but very emotional script, very beautiful photography, few characters, many silences and a sweet, wounded, innocent and abandoned protagonist, The Quiet Girl is a film that generates empathy and compassion in the viewer , and that makes us reflect on childhood, family, love, loneliness and many other things. It lasts just over an hour and a half, it's not a story in which so many things happen, it doesn't have a dizzying pace, but its slowness and emotional depth are also part of what makes a story a good movie. The performances are wonderful and the final sequence - which I won't reveal so as not to ruin the experience - is one of the most beautiful, painful, happy, frustrating and saddest I have ever seen. I didn't cry, but my eyes did water because of what that moment represented for Cáit, who with just a couple of words, a gesture and the inflection in her voice tells us much more than the most elaborate speeches of adults. She is, indeed, a silent girl, but her silence, her docility and the nobility of her heart speak for her. Have any of you seen this movie? I read you in the comments.

The Hunger Games: Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes| Review Movie

I found it a little long, for the little it showed, of this change, of this transition, I do not deny, it had its good moments, Snow's story, his family origin, and his relationship with Lucy Gray, Viola's character, a cold, unscrupulous woman, watching only for the interest of the Capitol, all had their part. I'm not saying that this movie was bad, as I said at the beginning it's a little slow, the plot, some scenes, a little more was expected from the games, at least from me, but as it's a prequel, you can't expect so much, right.

Nowhere - A reason to live, my opinion | Film review

Among the things I didn't like, was the exaggeration of some scenes and here I come with a spolier to explain my point, Mia gives birth to her baby in the 3rd or 4th day of the whole journey and before the week is up she decides to eat her own placenta, this seems to me too exaggerated because a person can go many days without eating before making such a decision and she had a large loaf of bread that she finished eating a day before, that is to say she had not even gone 24 hours without food before eating her placenta and even worse she kept a chocolate bar that in the end was the last thing she ate, if things had been the other way around, for me the story would take more strength.

Reseña de la serie "La guerra de los Clones"

It is true that we always like the balance, especially in the approach that we are drawn in the midst of chaos, and that the good guys triumph in general; although deep down some fans recognize the weakness we have for the Padawan of the dark side of the Force.

My Reflection On Netflix's "After the Wave" - The Stories Of 5 Survivors Of Indian Ocean Tsunami 2004

In conclusion, "After The Wave" serves as a powerful testament to the strength of the human spirit, encouraging introspection and fostering a deep appreciation for life's fragility. As I reflect on the stories shared in the documentary, I am reminded of the shared human experience, the resilience that resides within us all, and the potential for hope and renewal even in the darkest of times.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom - Movie Review

"Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom" is not only the last movie of the DCEU, but it was the last movie based on comic books last year, it was also the movie of this style that had less promotion and being part of a franchise with an end date, there was no need to promote it, no matter that the first film had a great and unexpectedly great box office collection. In this second and final part of this franchise, we will see an "Arthur Curry" also known as "Aquaman" dealing with the responsibilities of being the current King of Atlantis and being a father, both activities keep busy a man who seems unprepared to be a leader and precisely all these factors have made him lose perspective of a great threat that lurks not only peace in the depths of the seas, but the entire planet, which is why he must seek help where least expected to face an enemy that has become more powerful.

Review: El año de las bodas 🍿

So well, I will leave aside certain personal opinions about some aspects and attitudes of the characters, and I will tell you that despite lasting only 85 minutes, I got bored halfway through, they got stuck and could have done something different and relevant, and although I know that this type of productions end in the same thing, and have enough clichés, everything will always depend on how they handle the development and what can be improved or done better to at least stand out in something.

Una cenicienta de moda| 2015| Todos los días sale una cenicienta|A fashionable Cinderella| 2015| Every day a Cinderella comes out

I'm really into distracting myself by watching movies, it's amazing to go from not wanting to waste time watching movies to being convinced that it's a great way to be able to entertain myself in a healthy way. Watching this movie, I could see the evil very closely, wanting to end with everyone without caring even a little bit about the pain of others

Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom | Review

Undoubtedly there is something new to highlight in this production and it was the theme of the family, especially for having to free a brother and this is where one will always give the best of one and look for opportunities to have a free family and thus to support and defeat all enemies, as has always happened in DC movies, since it is always better to be a team than alone, however, seeing it in this new installment was very good and I did not expect it.

America Was Not All Sex, Drugs & Rock & Roll During the Hippies Era

The media has long been feeding us all the bad news that came out of the hippie movement. So-called sexual liberation, illegal drug use and immersion in illicit music wasn't the only thing happening during that time. We've been duped to believe what it represented, that those days were kind of an American "enlightenment" period. Too late did people realize that sex, drugs and rock & roll are the keys to falling deeper into darkness.
