Earning some type of revenue as a community is vital, there's no reason one should shy away from it cause at the end of the day, that money is needed to sustain and scale.
Yep! I look forward to reaching a point in which we can start sharing some of that income again. A while ago we used to distribute the rewards of the highlights with those featured, I loved that we could do that, but right now 100% HP rewards is essential in just gaining a bit more strength in being able to support the community.
But any support helps, whether it's just curating other people's posts or commenting. Keeping things alive. It isn't something that's entirely on us to figure out, after all it wouldn't be a community then! :^)
I look forward to being able to finance some contests again though, that's always a really fun part of it all.
Your heart is in the right place and that's lovely.
I just looked at the community stats(weekly interactions) in relation to active users and it is already impressive.
Surely, that number can be scaled up further, just gotta find the right mix of activities to encourage community engagement. I mean, it's movies and TV shows, after sports, and music, that's an industry that should pull great numbers of interactions.
I love the idea of movie recommendations, I personally find it hard to sort great films to watch, so I should be checking that out from hereon.
Yeah. One of the things is definitely going beyond just the highlights we do. Those aren't really engaging. I want to find more ways to give people a reason to read and not just post and go. One thing is definitely improving the HP we have and being capable of rewarding posters and especially commenters, so we aren't reliant on the few whales that may enter the community and curate. That's more a long game to play though.
In the past we had a really fun series where we had community members come together and create podcasts. We paid them for it and it become a bit of a weekly thing. I loved that, I'd love to be able to fund that again!
