MOVIE RECOMMENDATION : "HOT GIMMICK : GIRL MEETS BOY"

HI HELLO!!

For this post I would like to recommend to all of you this movie that I just watch. If I have to describe this movie in 1 word it would be TRASH. This movie is so garbage that I want everyone to watch it.

A LITTLE BACK STORY..

Due to the pandemic, me and my friends are stuck at home for months now. Most of us are currently working from home but thanks to social media we are constantly in touch with each other. And every friday, we have our movie night in our discord server.

And last week a friend of mine recommended this movie after watching the trailer on netflix and when she told us the title... Me and another friend of mine just gagged.

Why?

Because we have read the manga when we were younger. I personally hated that manga. It was pure garbage....and I have read all 12 volumes of it.

So when we watch the movie, my expectation was already very low but oh my GAWD...

I have never felt physically and mentally drained watching a 2 hour movie before.

THE MOVIE

So I will try to be as spoiler free as possible because I WANT ALL OF YOU TO SEE THIS GARBAGE OF A MOVIE

Movie Synopsis :

Hot gimmick is a movie about Hatsumi, a highschool girl who is supposedly average but for some reason everyone is attracted to her, getting blackmailed by her neighbor into being his slave. At the same time, her old neighbor who is now a popular supermodel, Azusa, moves back into apartment complex. Drama follows.

First of all let's talk about the characters. Every single character in this movie is a garbage person.

The main heroine, Hatsumi, is the most frustrating female lead I have ever seen. She has absolutely no backbone whatsoever and her personality is so ...bland. She just follows whatever the main characters told her to do without a fight. The whole story exist because she was blackmailed by the main hero, Ryoki...but the thing is...the thing that was used as the blackmail plot was so dumb.

Minor Spoiler : The story starts with Hatsumi's younger sister, Akane, who mind you is a middle school girl, weirdly told her sister cheerfully that she might be pregnant and asked Hatsumi to buy the pregnancy test. So she did.

But along the way, things happend and now Ryoki got a hold of the unopened pregnancy test. He immediately assumes Hatsumi was a loose women and blackmails her into being his slave.....That's it... He has no other proof. Except for that unopened pregnancy test kit.

Let's talk about the male lead, Ryoki....He is a pure garbage of a human being. He is manipulative, abusive and possessive. Just thinking about him makes me angry. He is a so called genius in his school. He is constantly insulting the heroine. He wants Hatsumi to be his personal slave...like wat...

Minor Spoiler : In this one scene, to show off to his friends that Hatsumi is his personal slave, he pushed her towards his friends and told them to do whatever they want to her. Then when the friends started touching her, RYOKI HAD THE NERVE TO GET ALL JEALOUS AND YANKS HATSUMI AWAY FROM THEM AND YELLED AT HER FOR GETTING TOUCH BY OTHER MEN....I just...Pure garbage person right here.

Next is the second male lead, Azusa, who is also a garbage person. I can't talk much about him without spoiling the movie. Just know that he used to live in the same apartment with Hatsumi and Ryoki than he moved away. Now a famous model, he moved back into the apartment complex. Hatsumi has a major crush on him but like I've told you before...he is a garbage person.

Last would be the third male lead, Shinogu. He is Hatsumi's brother who has the hots for his little sister. Later on in the movie we found out that he was adopted. So now he can freely chase after Hatsumi! YEEAAYY!! ( note the sarcasm here )

But personally ...I feel like Shinogu is a way better choice among the 3 love interest....but he is still trash....he is recyclable trash while the other 2 are the more smelly, maggot infected thrash.

Second Of all, The cinematography of this movie is a pure mess!!

The camera angle and the way the scenes are shot is way tooo much. It feels like the director just learned all this cool and weird shots and just wants to show off his skills...I just don't know how to explain it..YOU JUST GOTTA WATCH IT YOURSELF.

Another thing I hate LOVE about this movie is their sound design. The music score for the scenes in the movie is so bad and doesn't make sense. I personally hate how they put in cute and light hearted background music whenever Ryoki blackmails Hatsumi. The movie is just begging us to ship this couple and be like "Oh woooWWW that is sssooo cute!!! I wish I had a guy who blackmails me and is constantly insulting me and treats me like an object". I just find it icky.

And lastly, I wanna talk about the movie's pacing. It's way too fast. The plot is simple enough at the beginning but halfway into the movie... me and my friends were so lost...we have no idea what is going on...Even someone like myself who have read the whole 12 manga volume has absolutely no idea what is going on....guess it understandable when you try to cram a 12 volume manga into a 2 hour movie.

So yeah... That's my Movie Recommendation!!

Hopefully this all of the things I pointed out will make you want to watch the movie. I highly recommend you watch this movie with a friend. You know, have a movie night together and just chill together. I can guarantee you by the end of it, You will question your life decisions and why did you decide to waste 2 hours of your life.
