Each color represents a different word -Eunjoo's Room

I have a casual question for those of you who will be reading my review, What do you do when you quit your job and choose to be unemployed for months?

That's the question I also asked myself when I finished watching Eun joo's Room. A romance, life drama, youth, and comedy drama that aired in 2018. Eunjoo's Room tells the story of Shim Eun Joo's (Ryu Hye Young) life after deciding to quit the nauseating routine of working in a large company that deals with the world of design.

THE STORY

The story begins when Shim Eun Joo feels that her time is running out because she has to stay in her office for a total of eighteen hours every day. Not to mention, the work environment that began to be unfavorable, making Eun Joo even more convinced to quit. Although she had been promised a promotion if she won the tender for a big project, Eun Joo felt that her mental health was more important.

After submitting her resignation, Eun Joo busied herself drowning in feelings of emptiness and confusion about what to do. Eventually for weeks, all she did was sleep. Trash piled up in her room that wasn't thrown away, dirty clothes scattered all over her apartment, and even more useless items littered the place. It was a picture of a gloomy room just like its gloomy owner.

Not to mention the pressure from his mother to get into a romantic relationship soon, or get married like his older sister, making him feel even more guilty.

LIGHT AND UNIQUE STORY

There is no sharp conflict in this 12-episode drama. After being helped by the second protagonist, Seo Min Seok (Kim Jae Young) who is an interior designer as well as a small friend for Eun Joo. Problem after problem regarding the furniture in Eun Joo's house sprung up, and it made Min Seok have to intervene and nag his best friend, to immediately tidy up his room. However, that opinion was ignored. Over time, there was a lot of mold, and cockroaches that nested in Eun Joo's house.

Only then did Eun Joo realize how messy she was, as well as where she lived. That's what made her feelings never improve after her resignation.

Slowly, Eun Joo, assisted by her friends, sister, and brother made repairs, and DIY to make her house more neat and livable. From the DIY that Eun Joo did which was then uploaded to social media, Eun Joo just realized that she had a tendency to be good at organizing interiors, also, she just realized that what she did had a positive impact on her followers.

This drama doesn't take place in many settings. But, it made me marvel at the location setting.

Another fun fact, at the end of each episode, the audience is also presented with a short spectacle where Eun Joo and other characters in turn, will actually give tips on DIY interiors. In addition to getting hibura, viewers also get new knowledge. Yeay!

CHARACTERISTICS

  • Eun Joo (Ryu Hye Young)

Playing the cheerful Shim Eun Joo who was at a down point, Ryu is very good at bringing her mood to the audience. I even noticed that she didn't make many expressions, however, none of them failed to convey the feelings of sadness, despair, and a person who is not free to express her feelings.

I was impressed with Ryu's acting as Eun Joo who in the early episodes was really annoying and almost made me believe that she was the most problematic lead. LOL. Shim Eun Joo's character development is something to look forward to.

  • Seo Min Seok (Kim Jae Young)

Seo Min Seok is described as Eun Joo's male peer who is more capable in soft skills problem solving. In fact, Min Seok is very reliable in his office in matters of solving both internal and external problems. Min Seok is a senior interior designer compared to other workers in his small office. Min Seok also tends to be the type of man who looks undemanding and very attentive, especially to Eun Joo. The type of man who has the love language act of service. Btw, I want to find one like Min Seok too. Haha.

There are other important characters, such as: Yang Jae Hyun (Yun Ji On) who plays a student who has a crush on Eun Joo, Kim Sun Young as Eun Joo's mother, and Park Jin Woo as Eun Joo's father.

SUMMARY

From watching Eun Joo's Room, viewers can learn how to organize space, how to manage stress, as well as how to start decluttering. Because a good living space will inspire the mental state of the person who lives in it to be good too.

It's very watchable for all ages. I recommend this drama for those who are looking for a drama with a light, warm, funny story and full of good impressions and messages. This ungrandiose story is precisely what makes the audience feel that this story can relate to many people out there.

Ok Friends, that's my review of Eun Joo's Room, hopefully it can be a reference. See You ...
